This file compression tool offers the convenience of previewing an entire file before extracting it, and it does so free of charge.
Zipeg for Windows has a very simple interface that will appeal to all users. The minimal command buttons allow you to open files, and extract and preview them. There is also an Options button that lets you select the file you would like the program to open by default, and also where to place the destination file. When we opened a compressed file, the file's contents were displayed in the main window. Hovering the mouse over each individual file displayed the file's size, including the compression size and the modification date. The preview option allowed us to view the entire file without having to extract it first.
Zipeg keeps you in charge of the extraction process. We highly recommend this freeware app for all users. It left no traces on our computer when we uninstalled it.

Pros: I started to use it on my Mac because there is no WinZip for OSX yet. It is way better than SuffIt and also free.

"Excellent free replacement for WinZip, WinRar"
Pros: First, because it is a free alternative to WinZip / WinRar.
Second, you do not need to install several program to uncompress different file formats. This program does it all for you!
Third, it runs on both Windows and Macintosh.
Last but not least - ever had an archive with garbled filenames because the song/movie clip names are in French/German/Japanese? Zipeg can handle those too.
Zip thru photo archives, see thumbnails, select and extract what you need.
Normally, when it comes to decompressing photo archives, you don?t really know what you are going to get until it?s done. With Zipeg, you can see what?s inside compressed file before you even start unpacking. Zipeg displays images in thumbnail format so there?s no need for you to wait till unzipping is over...
Best of all, it?s totally free.

"absolutely must have if you deal with photo archives or icons"
Pros: I love it. I frequently download collections of icons and I do need to find one from hundreds w/o unpacking the whole archive. Zipeg just zips thru images. Absolutely free and works everywhere. The website has newer version than downloads dot come. It is much more stable. Support is responsive. I posted couple of crashes and got new version with the fix in a matter of few days.
