CNET Editors' review
ZIP files are a great way to compress larger files into a format that's easy to store and share. Although Windows comes with a utility for creating ZIP files, it's pretty basic and doesn't offer a lot of options. ZipGenius Suite is a full-featured program that lets users easily create, edit, and share ZIP files.
The program's interface is plain and intuitive, with large, graphical buttons across the top. The opening screen lets users go straight to the program's major features, which include creating a new archive, opening an existing archive, extracting files from an archive, sending an archive as an e-mail attachment, and publishing an archive to the Web. In addition to this useful list of features, you can also manipulate files from within the program's menus or by right-clicking on particular files and selecting ZipGenius from the context menu. We found all of ZipGenius's features quite easy to use, especially the Web-based functions; we like that the program can launch the default e-mail client as well as a built-in FTP client for uploading files to the Web. Those who know only the basics about ZIP files should have little trouble with ZipGenius, but there's plenty here for advanced users, too: command line functions, CryptoZip, slideshows, and more. The program's online Help file is adequate, but could stand to be a little more detailed. Overall, we think that ZipGenius Suite is a great program for users of all levels; it's easy enough for beginners, but it has enough cool features to satisfy experienced zippers as well.
ZipGenius Suite installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to everyone.

"Loved it for years... until Windows 7 x 64"
Version: ZipGenius Suite 6.3.1.2614
Pros
Handles more archive types than you can shake a stick at
Cons
Caused windows explorer to crash on right-click when installed on a Windows 7 x 64 system
Summary
I loved Zip Genius for years, using it without incident on an XP system. When I bought a new laptop running Windows 7 x 64 I installed many of my favorite programs, and many of them ran without a hitch. Zip Genius itself seemed to run fine, other than not being able to get it to fully close the original tab if I opened more than one archive.
Then I began having weird crashes of Windows explorer, seemingly random, when I would right-click on files or folders. Strangely, I could click on other files or folders and not get a crash, but it began to be clear that certain folders would invariably cause the crash - though for no apparent reason.
So began the process of uninstalling & re-installing various programs, and lo and behold, once Zip Genius was gone, so was the crashing problem.
Alas, I am back to searching for a good archive program. I will miss Zip Genius, but not as much as I missed a reliable context menu.
