This freeware ZIP-file extractor doesn't have much to offer most users, but you'll need it to open archives encrypted with PKWare products such as PKZIP or SecureZIP. ZIP Reader's interface couldn't be more laconic; you simply select which file to extract and where. You can also access the program by right-clicking an archive in Windows Explorer. ZIP Reader supports popular archive formats besides ZIP, including RAR, TAR, and GZIP. In our tests, however, it scrambled the names of files written in Cyrillic letters. If you need ZIP Reader, you probably already know it, and don't need convincing. But if you don't use PKWare software, you're probably better off with another, more full-featured utility.

ZIP Reader decrypts Secure ZIP files created by any PKWARE product, regardless of hardware platform. That means Windows users can access files encrypted and compressed on Windows, UNIX, Linux, iSeries, and zSeries systems. Simple to use with a slick auto launch feature--just double click on a ZIP file or drag-and-drop the ZIP file to the ZIP Reader icon. The file unzips automatically. Version 8.0.18 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"Easiest zip file I ever used, really made for novices like me. Super Product!"
Pros: You open Zip Reader, you see a field to type in a file name; you type it in and before you can blink your eyes, your files are unzipped. How much easier can it get. To be honest, that WinZip used to confuse me. This is a great product. I highly recommend it.

"Forget WinZip. This product Kicks it in the booty."
Pros: This really is much easier to use and far more expedient. If you don't believe it, try it. Also you don't get that crappy license screen every time you open it.
Cons: Hey man, I love this thing. Simple program for a simple task. It keeps with the KISS principle.

"Easy to use and none of the hazzle I got from other zip files."
Pros: I find it too easy to use. I dont have to do anything at all and it unzip all my zip files including those I got from my contacts. It is simply great.

"Get This If All You Want Is To Unzip Files"
Pros: Very basic and easy to use. If you're like me and download zipped files from time to time and all you want is to unzip them then this is it! It's free, it won't bug you for registration or ask you to purchase. IT'S FREE!! Works very well, glad I found it. Thank you Download.com!
