When Google, Yahoo, or any other major search engine overwhelms you with so many matches it reads more results than dollars in the national debt, ChunkIt might be the plug-in for you. Available for Firefox and Internet Explorer, it "chunks" up your search returns, providing snippets of relevant text.
The add-on splits your browser tab into two vertical sections, the left side with the ChunkIt results and the right with unchunked returns. Clicking on the text of a ChunkIt result loads the text in the right pane, highlights the relevant bit in yellow, and scrolls directly to it. A link at the top of the pane opens the page that your result lives on in a new tab.
This is a large plug-in, weighing in at more than 8MB. Using it requires use of the ChunkIt toolbar, something that may not go over well as browser design becomes more streamlined. Users who need help narrowing down broad searches will find this plug-in exceptionally useful. On the other hand, users comfortable maneuvering through "the Google" might find ChunkIt extraneous to their needs.

Pros
Quickly finds and searches through all links on a page to find more pages that may be relevant to the search term. Saves a lot of time on brute-force searching.
Cons
Can only search on pages on which some link exists; dependent on the original search engine for the prime results, thus making it dependent on your original search engine. This is an adjunct functionality only.
Summary
If you're certain you can find out more by drilling down through top-level search results, Yolink can eliminate a lot of manual search. But it can't find anything more outside of those first results, so your effectiveness is determined still by the search engine you use. Useful if you are reasonably certain you're spot-on with your search terms, but if you aren't, Yolink will take you into the grass at jetcrash speeds.

Made firefox unable to load. Crashes firefox before browser can even launch. Still trying to fix the mess it has created. I have a 3 week old computer.

You allow them to collect and save your search queries, to deliver advertising to your search results, to install third party software on your system, and lots more. Red flags all over the place!

There's a sucker born every minute, but I'm not one of them. Keep your spyware, adware, and malware to yourself, thank you very much. I can't believe CNet even lists this thing. Are they being paid, or what?

ASPM was said to be buying back its debt.By putting in the word "convertible" in the ChunkIt! search bar,ChunkIt! took me right to the paragraph I needed to read in all three ASPM documents(SEC filing,press release,and conference call transcript).

Summary
I did my book report in 5 minutes by navigating to www.gutenberg.org finding the txt or html version of the book and once it loaded in browser I entered info i was after into chunkit and clicked "chunk this page". Paragraphs with relevant info came up in a flash. Can't beat it.

I love using ChunkIt and I agree with the post above - it works great with craigslist and I really like using it with amazon.com as well.Great split screen and I appreciate that my search terms are highlighted in different colors.
Cons
Nothing really to comment on here, other than I sometimes forget that 'enter' is chunk Google but the back button seems to work well to fix that.

As a student I use ChunkIt primarily for academic research, but I have used it for stuff not related to school and it was just as helpful. Use it most often with eBay.

This tool is easy to use and very powerful. I find the ability to preview links before opening them really helpful. The split screen is great for shopping sites and CraigsList.

This search tool helps me find information and save time. I really like the ability to switch search engines with the drop down window. Once this product is discovered by main street it will get a lot of press and great reviews.
