Yelp for iPhone contains all the ingredients you'd expect from the well-known site for users to rate local business and restaurant listings--expect one perplexing tendency to space out when loading user reviews. The instability is surely an early bug, but a detraction nonetheless.
Otherwise, the iPhone app clearly features user-reviewed listings for restaurants, bars, banks, and so on, utilizing the iPhone's GPS know-how to target your current neighborhood. Each listing squeezes in the address, user ratings, distance, and price range. Mapping capabilities will show you how to get there, and a calling button can help you make the reservation. While the iPhone app de-emphasizes Yelp.com's social networking beehive, certain scheduling capabilities would be welcome--like sending the listing as an invitation for lunch.
