CNET Editors' review
Eat your heart out, Windows Explorer. This powerhouse file manager beats the pants off Microsoft's built-in utility on almost every count. Start with the interface: Xplorer2 lets you browse two or more folders in one window using panes (as in Total Commander or FAR) and tabs.
You can save several window layouts and quickly switch among them when necessary. Visual filters let you more easily navigate overcrowded directories. Selecting several files is a breeze, since you don't have to hold down the Ctrl key. Xplorer2's tweaks aren't limited to the interface, either. You can rename multiple files at once, split and merge files, synchronize folders, and shred data to prevent recovery.
The program supports NTFS hard links (which are more powerful than shortcuts, allowing you, for instance, to move the source file without breaking a link). An enhanced DOS command line lets you create scripts for processing file batches. All in all, there's a good chance you won't go back to Windows Explorer once you get a look at Xplorer2.

"Nikos should be a specialist for MS in file management"
Version: Xplorer2 1.8.0.9
Pros
The dual-pane is old school but still very useful and intuitive. Tab browsing helps navigation more easier. Robust Copy/Delete saves time and resource. Color coding helps identify file type better so it reduces dangerous threads.
Cons
Some menu items are not well-intergrated with newer versions of Windows (Vista/7). File Spliting/Merging is quite slow and takes a lot of computer resource on big records. Robust Delete sometimes can't delete a folder that can be easy nuke with a Del
Summary
I like xplorer2 because of it lightweight and useful in file management. With Custom commands I can take full control to my computer. Robust Copy saves my time, with xplorer2 file management becomes more interesting than with the useless Windows Explorer.

"Far better than the built-in Explorer of Windows 7"
Version: Xplorer2 1.8.0.9
Pros
Far superior to the Explorer of Windows 95-Windows 7
Fast and easy to navigate
Very customizable
Much easier to find standard directories than Explorer
Can replace Windows Explorer completely
Detailed extended file information and in-window previewsCons
Somewhat dated looking interface
That's about itSummary
I originally started looking for a file manager many years ago after using Directory Opus, a dual-pane file manager originally on the Amiga. DirOpus has been rewritten from scratch on the PC for windows, and I just don't like it (heavy, clunky), so I sought out something lighter and faster, and I found xplorer, and later xplorer2. I used xplorer lite for a time, but it lacked a lot of the features I like, so I dropped it and decided to give the pro trial a go.
A very good application, and it alleviates the frustrations I find with the way Microsoft have reconfigured the Windows 7 left folder layout and navigation. It's customizable to a level that even the most OCD geek would love and it takes me to my files quickly every time.
I think the only thing it needs is a bit of a brush up on the interface, to bring it more in line with the standard Windows Vista/Windows 7 UI, but apart from that, it's great. -
"Great product for file management"
Version: Xplorer2 1.8.0.9
Pros
I love the two panes and you can have different views within each pane. Also the mapped drives show up and other neat thing i liked is on F2 is highlights just the file name and not the extension.
Cons
As of now can't think of any cons.
Summary
Will recommend this product to all.

"xplorer2 deserves to be shipping with Windows from MS"
Version: Xplorer2 1.8.0.9
Pros
How many times do you copy from one folder to another and lose the src and destination windows? Never with xplorer2!! Need to copy the list of files in a directory-Alt-C; all the columns in detail view-Ctrl-P; that's the tip of the iceberg! Get this!
Cons
User interface is dated, but totally functional. Needs work on special folder views, e.g. the new Win-7 Libraries folder shows up as: ::{031E4825-7B94-4DC3-B131-E946B44C8DD5} and the tree view is flat at 2nd level. Small price for productivity!
Summary
In Windows, users spend more time than you can imagine moving and looking for files in explorer. Unfortunately, programmers at Microsoft have not walked in the user's shoes, hence the original Windows 95 Explorer ships even today with Windows 7 :-(
xPlorer2 is the ultimate explorer environment - once you learn to use it, you will not be able to live without it.
Give the free version a whirl, begin saving for when you'll undoubtedly want to go Pro, yes, it's that good.
