This slimmed-down file manager trumps Windows Explorer on many counts, but it may have too much flexibility for some users.
Xplorer2 Lite's interface is easily adapted to your preferences. Toolbars and information windows can be moved on a whim. You can browse two or more folders in one window, using program tabs and different panes. What's more, you can customize search windows and save the settings for later use. Visual filters improve crowded directory readability. You can easily rename multiple files at once, split or merge files, synchronize folders, and shred data to prevent recovery. However, we are disappointed that the Check Duplicates and Compare Subfolders functions are disabled.
An enhanced DOS command line allows you to create scripts to process file batches, a nice touch for more advanced users. The online help is detailed, tool tips are mini manuals, and the Tip of the Day feature gives even more helpful information. All in all, this program makes the learning curve gentle. Almost everyone will find this file manager a great improvement over their current tool. Xplorer2 Lite will even make novices feel like power users.

Version: Xplorer2 Lite 1.6
Pros: I ahve used Xplorer2 since it was first called 2xExplorer. Now, I would not want to live in a world without this great tool. I highly recommend playing with it. Once you have used it for a while you'll understand.
Cons: They need to make a few more options available in the freebie.

Pros: I use this tool almost completely replacing Windows Explorer. It's much more efficient when managing files between multiple folders. I really like the ability to use keystrokes to do most of the manipulations as this often is faster than clicking here, there, and everywhere.
Cons: Real nit... should have used F5 for refresh as is the case for many applications. I suspect F5 copy is mimicing an older convention.

Pros: I've been using this since the 2x days, when I ran W98, and would be lost without it. It is so much more flexible and bug free than Windows Explorer.

Pros: My windows explorer started to constantly crash for quite a long time now. And it is so freaking annoying. and it always asks me if i want to send the data to bill gates. what a waste of my time, and I can't help it, but to click yes. I tried to uninstall some short cuts, but it didn't help either. Bill gates if you are reading this, your program sucks!
I actually just installed this program just today, because i am FED UP by the constant crash. I was hoping that I will find a good program online. And I am very happy about this one. I haven't tried all the things that it has on it. I am impressed by that file change function. If I want to change a file name under windows explorer, it will highlight the whole file including the extension. This little program actually only hightlights the first part of the file, which is so user friendly. I am sure that I will find more neat things like that. I also like the two panels. That makes file comparison so much easier.
I have never written a review for a software before, I can't help it. I have confidence that this program won't crash as often Bill gates' bad program.
Cons: I don't know any yet. I just installed it about 20 minutes ago. ;)
