After buying the product, Xara did not deliver anything...not even a real receipt with an order number.
Summary
I bought Xara3D at the Xara web site. The last page of the order process provided a download link. After clicking the download link, I was directed to a dead HTTP 404 page. No download of the purchased software. One day after purchasing the software, Xara has not emailed a receipt or a download link. Now I must file a billing dispute with my credit card compay to recover my money. What a rip off!

Was a great program in the older versions for creating 3D text then modifying it in photoshop.

Won't install using any compatibility mode in Windows 7.

I've used Xara for about 10 years to create great looking headers for web pages and VB programs. It's great for overlaying good looking, easily changed text on top of a graphic background.
Cons
The animation stuff is really cool but isn't of much use in a business environment.

I love some of the features. The shadow maker, 3d extrusion tools are both excellent.
Cons
I'm still trying to find and use the cropping tool and some of the other more basic tools. Seems like their toolbars are hard to use. The GIF making software was very hard to use. No easy way to start a GIF, in compared to other software.
Summary
While the software performed well, I found it somewhat difficult to use.

Summary
After reading the comments on this page I am shocked! This program is VERY easy to learn & use. Xara 3D has thousands of preset options to make animated text & logos. Not only can you animate a word but you can animate/color/style each letter differently. Additionally, you can animate the lights on the object to move with or opposite of the text. It takes just minutes to learn and has great video support and help files. You can even import items & logos to turn into 3D. When you are done designing you can save the item as FLASH/Animated GIF/JPEG/AVI Video in seconds, or save as a screen saver.
Did I mention that Xara 3D 6.0 is under $50.00?
I own a software company & I consider Xara 3D to be an important tool for 3D animation.
My summary, If you can't run this program quickly & easily do yourself a favor......back away from the computer please! -
