From Sand Hill Engineering :XTension is a program that can dramatically extend the functionality of your Mac. Using this program and a few X10 hardware modules, you can train your Mac to do a variety of household tasks, from turning on the living room lamps to making coffee. The program has many built-in features, including a sunrise/sunset tracker to ensure that your lights aren't turned on until they're really needed. Version 2.2 introduces many new features for creating custom graphic interfaces. The only major limitation of this program is that it will not download to the X10 CP290 interface unit, making it necessary for your Macintosh to be running in order for XTension to function.
