Publisher's description of XStandard Lite
From Belus Technology:XStandard is a plug-in WYSIWYG editor for Windows and browser-based content management systems (IE and Firefox). It is the most standards-compliant WYSIWYG editor available and generates clean XHTML Strict or 1.1 markup that meets the most stringent accessibility requirements. The editor uses only CSS for formatting and ensures the clean separation of content from presentation. Use XStandard to manage rich, multilingual content in any language (including right-to-left languages such as Hebrew and Arabic). XStandard ships in 13 languages and creates new localizations easily.
The Lite version of XStandard is free for commercial use. The Pro version has advanced Web Services that power a spell checker, drag & drop, referencing files in remote libraries, communicating with third party systems and importing third-party content. Version 1.4 adds support for Mozilla / Firefox; support for right-to-left languages such as Hebrew and Arabic; image resizing by dragging on image "handles".

Version: XStandard Lite 1.4
"Does not seem to support XHTML 1.1 as advertised"
Pros: The program seems to be based on the classic free HTML editor NVU (ie looks identical and has "NVU" plastered all over it)
Cons: I was excited to read that this program supports the most recent XHTML standard (1.1) but the best I could export was XHTML 1.0 strict. If 1.1 is available, the help file does not explain how to access it.

Version: XStandard Lite 1.4
"Unable to use software in secured corporate desktop SOE environment"
Pros: The feature offerings looked very good.
I plan on trying this one at home.
Cons: Lauching via Internet Web-browser and downloading via Internet after installing is very confusing.
I think that I didn't really understand the installation and invoking process.
I am keen on a reply from the author as I would like to try the program again if the installation issues are resolved.
