This app is one of the easiest ways to add Ubuntu to your Windows system. Wubi's dialog interface requires users to select a mere six options to install the Linux OS. Don't expect help with this utility. Users are expected to have a basic understanding of Linux and booting into alternate operating systems.
Selecting the install drive, hard-drive space, language, username, and password is quick with pull-down selectors. The most difficult decision is choosing the environment from Ubuntu, Kbuntu, Xubuntu, and UbuntuStudio. Users are expected to know which they would prefer, as no information is given about the options. While this is truly a one-click install of Linux, it isn't fast. The first step downloads an almost 700MB ISO image used to install Linux. After the download, the app takes a considerable time unpacking and installing the OS. Boot into Ubuntu and there is another wait as the OS completes setting preferences and options. It is all without user intervention, though.
A last reboot and you have a clean, handy Linux OS on your PC. Numerous apps are preinstalled and configured. Seconds after first log-in our testers were browsing the Internet and using a freeware word processor without any extra configuration. This is a great simple install package for anyone interested in trying out Linux.

Version: Wubi 7.04.01
Pros: worked beautifully on one of my xp machines. Does have some bugs tho.
Cons: I tried to install it as directed and the way a reviewer suggested. Both failed. Do not try to install if you have vista, even by following the directions put forth by a fellow reviewer the installation failed and it also rendered my vista test machine unable to boot up vista. I had to do a complete reinstall of vista. Good thing it wasn't my main machine.

Version: Wubi 7.04.01
Pros: I do not have to use a live disc anymore (with a strange keyboard). It rememebers my settings. No partioning or booting from a USB (which caused problems).
Cons: Needs 10GB. Doesn't work with my built in speakers. Took an hour & half to set up. Would only use a downloaded version of UBUNTU & not my live disc.

"The easiest to install yet!!!"
Pros: i like the fact that it's easy to downlaod and install, i have the ubuntu cd home, it's so much pain, that i gave up until wubi came out!
Dpends on your graphic card perfomence like an Nvidia Geforce 7600 GS, it's going to look pretty. an easy file navigation system. least but not best, everything like office and excel at your fingertips.
Cons: there's no music player, no video player. first of all i'm using vista HPremium, it doesn't recognize, or support my internet connection. A little but far from perfect that's all.

Version: Wubi 7.04.01
Pros: Wubi works very well, installed properly the first time. The reason some of the people have errors with usernames is that they simply did not enter a username and password or forgot it. You must use the alternate .ISO with these, they also must be in the same folder.
Good Luck and happy Wubing
