"Wondershare = iSkysoft - A ring of scamming companies"
Version: Wondershare AllMyTube 3.2.4
Pros
Absolutely none.
Cons
Practically everything.
Summary
Wondershare is the trunk of a Chinese tree notorious for producing hastily made software, usually "specializing" in media conversion. That tree then has several branches, such as iSkysoft and Aimersoft. A good indication you've found a scam is if the company's name ends in "-soft" and it converts or downloads media.
For example, take a look at iSkysoft's iTube Studio for Mac and Wondershare's AllMyTube product pages. You'll notice that both feature screenshots of strikingly similar-looking software. While the software's interface is skinned differently for each brand, it works... well doesn't work... the same in terms of functionality. The interfaces are invariably garish and the UI clumsy. Then look at the website design and layout... they both offer the same products that perform the same functions and have identical features. The packaging is slightly different, but there is a noticeable resemblance between the designs: sometimes they attempt to look "sleek", others like they're ported from Windows or vey generic or unprofessional, featuring cartoonish elements. They offer support for the same websites, have the same graphics in the product overview: similar compatibility indicators (for instance the Mountain Lion for OS X 10.8 is placed in the same spot on the packages and pictures), graphics, screenshots, promotional pictures, similar interfaces, device support, etc. etc. If you're not convinced by now, look at the Reviews sections for each company's products.
Wondershare's Video Converter Ultimate and iSkysoft's iMedia Converter Deluxe both have astounding 4.5-5 stars ratings. Every reviewer raves about how great this product is and has absolutely nothing bad to say. Let's take a look at the IP addresses of those commenters: Oh would you look at that, they're all from the same place... in China! And how about the company's website? You guess it: same location! Now let's take a look at some reviews on other websites... how about CNET or the Mac App Store? Well... it's not pretty. 3/5 stars is the average, and the reviews have, well, nothing positive to report... they mostly consist of the company's lack of customer support and the how the software is completely unusable because it works give or take 20% of the time, primarily on YouTube. You'll see the same raving reviews on iSkysoft's nearly-identical products on their website... not on other sites, though.
Furthermore, these types of companies love to spam forums, and positive responses come from the same IP address as the original thread did. When confronted, they have tons of excuses, including blaming it on affiliate companies, poor marketing firms, saying they were stopping, etc. etc. But they kept on doing it... time after time. Another similarity is when you click "buy" on a product on either website, an identical deal section at the bottom of the screen including the same types of software bundled for the same savings and discounts... all put together on an exact replica of the other's. Sometimes they'll even throw some curveballs: iSkysoft DVD Ripper and Aimersoft DVD Ripper both cost $39... but Wondershare's DVD Ripper costs an extra $6... $45. In tutorials they act as a customer asking a question, and then proceed to answer that question as a representative, and then the poster will then proceed to thank the representative for the "great customer service." They will also reply to reviews with complaints on other sites, too... offering often unhelpful advice on how to fix issues, usually saying to fill out some form or send an email that will never be looked at. They then try to post comments saying things like how it worked for them, trying to boost their image, often to no avail. But wait, there's more! They go so far as to creating shareware sites with raving reviews and ratings. All of this from the same IP addresses.
Here's a list of companies to avoid:
