If you're looking for an agile, do-it-all disk cleaner and optimizer, Wise Disk Cleaner Free isn't it. It is, however, a reliable freeware application that may surprise you with its quick scanning pace and it's optional wizard that guides you through the process of naming and taming unnecessary, space-sucking files.

You'll be able to include or exclude the file types scanned and he location on your drive. Pay close attention to the Options menu that lets you sanction temporary files and folders and broken shortcuts--you may want to spare something that's herded in by default. As you would with any system astringent, take care when scrubbing a specific folder, and when fixing problems. Thankfully, this disk cleaner program wisely lets you delete files to the Recycle bin, where they're ultimately recoverable. Elect to permanently delete them, however, and they're gone.

Wise Disk Cleaner Free is simple, has just enough options for more serious users, and can quickly make a difference in streamlining your system for speed.

  Pros: Fairly fast

  Cons: After trying on 3 different occasions to get this thing properly installed I dumped it because it does not allow me to change the default settings.

  "Works (sometimes too well)."

  Pros: i used to do this manually (search, delete). now it can be done automatically . . . sort of.

  Cons: you MUST review the search results BEFORE you delete them. some files are in directions marked "Do not delete these files.", while other user files have the same file types (*.log).

  Summary: just like any other system & file utility program, if you don't know what you're doing, then either DON'T do it, or use the DEFAULT settings.
  
  this is a great tool for both newbies & pros.
