What's new in this version: Fixed issue vista starting up after cloning due to old version of ntfsprogs. Now requires ntfsprogs 2.0.0 and requires downloading before opening. Also fixed expand and shrink menu selections.

Nice of CNet to retain this older application for people still using OSX 10.5.
Cons
Does not work in OSX 10.6.8 (or, presumably, above). Probably won't work with 10.6.x in general. Fails with a bad hdiutil parameter.

Easy to install, worked 'right out of the box' and the disclaimers/warnings were prominently posted.

No longer supported so if something doesn't work, the forums are your only hope. The wording of the disclaimer was a bit off-putting. However, read and heed!
Summary
I tried several home-brew methods to get a clone of my XP partition, but the Disk Utility kept throwing errors and would not complete a block copy. I was leery of using the Unix dd command (I am not an experienced Unix user) so Winclone was the only answer that seemed to be available per many posts and forum discussions.

I had to get a Windows 7 license to install Windows on my MacBook.
The license that I brought has activation restriction. I was worried about reactivating it when I travel to another country for Masters Degree incase of software/hardware upgrade or problem.
My Friend suggested me to use WinClone to completely clone the BootCamp partition.
Yesterday, I had a problem with BootCamp partition, so I had to restore the BootCamp restore image created 3 days ago.
It needed about 3 hours to restore 70GB using the default settings.
When restore was complete, i restarted my mac, and entered BootCamp partition.
The startup was slow, and the startup screen changed to Windows VISTA's loading bar.
I tried to repaire the startup using Windows 7 Disk. It didn't work.
I searched on the net for a solution and I found one.
So for those who have Windows 7 installed on BootCamp, and faces this issue. Try this:
1- Open Command Prompt as an Administrator.
2- Type this: bcdedit /set {current} locale en-US
3- Press Enter
4- Restart Windows
5- VOILA! -

BootCamp crashed my disk twice in the process. And I had to boot from the install DVD in order to repair it, which it did all right.
I happen to own Coriolis Ipartition, and I just KNOW that it would have repartitioned the drive flawlessly.
But I wanted to try this one - WinClone - and it did its job perfectly.
The only cons I can think of regarding the product is a little bit more elaborate documentation.
* They may not have anticipated that users don't anticipate that they are running out of space, or has run out of space when they are using WinClone. -FreeSpace on my partition was to small to run chkdisk /f/r.
* Maybe they also should tell people how to invoke a "leveled command prompt" (You need administrative rights to do a chkdsk /f/r".
Thanks to the developers for this fine piece of free software.
Despite what is mentioned above I recommend it whole - heartedly.

...make sure that, "Use "special" compressed image format that is not mountable etc, etc" is selected in preferences. When I initially used "mountable Disk Image format", I kept getting errors. When restoring the image, know that it'll take at least an hour - I'm using a 2008 Mac Pro w/16 GB of RAM. And it did allow for cloning and restoring to a larger partition. Good luck...

"One out of four backups would restore properly"

This is the only way I know to make a disk image of a Boot Camp partition, and therefore is very important to me.
Cons
I make a Winclone backup of my Boot Camp partition on a bi-weekly basis. I've had to restore the partition twice in the past year. Each time I did the restore, the most recent backups didn't work. Thank heavens an older one did.
Summary
I like the product and I would have been in big trouble if at least one of my backups hadn't worked. I continue to use Winclone for my Boot Camp backups, with the hope that the next time I need to restore, the most recent backup will work for me.

It simply works perfectly. It is outrageously easy to use. It compresses the backup files by about 40%. After literally 52 years of using computers, I have seldom encountered ones that just do their job. This is one of the very few.

Well, I would strongly like to donate to the developer but he/she is apparently no longer taking donations.Summary
I have MacBook Pro and spend most of my time in the Bootcamp partiton. One day, I couldn't start Windows, either normally nor in Safe Mode. Thought it was a problem with RAM but the Apple techs checked and said it was NTFS corruption n the Bootcamp partitioin.
Nothing to do but wipe out the partition and start over. Forty odd hours later, I was back to where I started. (My backup of that partition couldn't be restored while running Windows. A major Catch-22.)
But I said to myself, there must be an app that would allow me to backup and restore the Bootcamp partition from the Mac partition. This is it, Win Clone.
After finding lots of great reviews, I discovered that the develop no longer is available. More searching and I found it on cnet. Downloaded. Ran the routine to backup my Bootcamp partitiion.
The other day, I tried to install a U.S. Robotics USB 56k modem so I could use my autodialer (Windows). It somehow really corrupted Windows to the extent that Windows repair didn't help.
So I went to the Mac partition. Two clicks later, I was restoring via Win Clone. Two hours later, I was running Windows exactly as per when I ran the Win Clone backup.
What could be better? I totally recommend Win Clone.
