At some point, every computer user has watched her PC churn and wondered if there were some way to tune it up. Experienced hackers can get into the guts and do it themselves, but for ordinary computer users there are programs like WinXP Manager, which help tweak settings to speed performance, start-up, and shutdown.
The suite gives access to the inner workings of the XP operating system, including the Registry, file system, security settings, and details of the interface. The program's own compact interface effectively keeps this wealth of options organized, and an easy-to-use wizard helps guide new users through the initial process of optimizing the PC.
We recommend WinXP Manager to inexperienced computer users who want to boost the performance of their systems without digging into the internals.

"Fast, easy to use, comprehensive, and easily reversible!"
Pros: This product does it all! It cleans and defragments registry, deletes duplicate files, analyzes and optimizes start-up, removes "junk" (unuused) files, and more! It provides you with an easy to use manager for handling running processes, and adds a force uninstall for corrupted Add/Remove Programs Entries. It can also help your computer handle RAM by defragmenting RAM, a feature you can't find hardly anywhere else for free.
Inside the program you can run a simple system optimizer. This will start a "wizard" that will guide you through the such processes as disabling unneeded things that run at startup, removing junk files, fixing registry etc. Plus, after you do all that, you will want to run the countless other tools such as diabling unneeded visual themes, managing screensavers, internet explorer settings, some Windows Media Player settings, and general other things such as what Windows does when it crashes, and how long it will wait at shutdown before killing some running processes.
It's an amazing tool and it really does it all! It sped up Windows a very noticible amount, and I don't have programs go "Not Responding" as often as before. Everything seems stable, it handles RAM and easier without a lot of harddrive grinding opens files and folders. It really gave my PC a makeover and is definitely worth a download! If you don't like it, it creates a system restore point at startup, so you can undo all the changes it makes.
Cons: Only a 15 day trial. Wish they'd make a free version, I can't live without this wonderful program! Sigh...*forks over 40 bucks to Yamicsoft*
