Like a box of Cracker Jacks, WinTools.net Extra is great on its own, but the surprise at the bottom makes it even better. After installing the package, you'll find two new icons on your desktop: WinTools.net Extra, which you'd expect, and Armor Tools Extra, which you might not. WinTools.net Extra cleans up unwanted files from your hard disk and your Registry, allows you to select which programs launch on system start-up, and lets you kill running process. One of its most powerful tools, Clean Up, lets you completely remove program files and their Registry keys, even when their original uninstallers have failed. The Tweak UI function can change the appearance of system areas such as the desktop and the Start menu. Meanwhile, Armor Tools Extra handles security tasks; it encrypts drives (but not individual files or folders) using the 256-bit AES algorithm and wipes away system and online tracks (though it only supports Internet Explorer). We really like the Invisible Man feature, which is like Windows XP System Restore, but with file deletion. We do wish we could access all the tools from one window, but that's a minor complaint. WinTools.net Extra's powerful, plentiful feature set earns our recommendation.
