There may come a day that optical drives are as hard to find as 5.25 floppy drives are today. WinToFlash starts a wizard that will help pull over the contents of a windows installation CD or DVD and prep the USB drive to become a bootable replacement for the optical drive. It can also do this with your LiveCD. You don't have to worry about scratches on the disc or misplacing your original media discs once you transfer their contents to the flash drive. The optical drive is quickly becoming a thing of the past, especially in office environments, as media is shifted to the cloud.
What's new in this version: Can not lock the drive problem fixed; folders options, logs, and profiles will be auto-created if not exists; boot loader write operation for XP/2003 moved right after the drive format operation.

Under development, documentation lacking on current version. Plenty of Information thou about it if you search the Providers Board for usage!
Summary
I used version 7.00.20 for Dell Latitude D420 will be working on D620 Next! I did a CLEAN install of Win XP PRO SP3 and used WIN 7 OS for the prep for these machines!
Suggestion Item #1 Exist...Comes with Using the Product!
Suggestions for Improvements:
1. Include a profile save/lasted used information (I.E. save the information that I lasted entered)
2. I know that I read some where about suggested Improvement of including reading not only from CD/DVD but also reading from ISO file, so I too think this should be added feature also.
3. Allow Volume labeling of the Thumb Drive/USB Stick (IT Pro who have to maintain, XP, VISTA, WIN 7 and coming WIN 8 can then make a Stick/USB/Flash Drive for each version of WIN for use). This could added on the FORMAT Tab under Main Parameters and only applied if the Drive is to be formatted. Could also use the Volume Label that exist on Source!
4. Get Some User's Guide Info in particular in PDF Format (Currently everything is in Text or points to another web site). In particular on how to use the Advanced Tabs! I Used the forms to find out my initial problem and found out about using this advanced feature.

Yes download is free and scan is free, but updating of drivers will require a purchase. Waste of my time. Still have out dated drivers.

I wanted to make bootable USB from set of three recovery disks (Sony Vaio VPCYB16KG, with no optical drive), but it kept telling me disk 1 was missing files. I gave up and bought external DVD drive. Maybe it would work in creating bootable USB from single Windows installation disk.

Did EXACTLY what I needed it to do - Transfer a Windows 7 cd to a USB drive. Perfectly. Bootable. Job Completed.
Cons
The interface is a little 'different' which is why I made it 4 stars. I made an error in one of my selections the first time I tried to use it.. No harm done though, and my second attempt was successful.
Summary
I had a Sony Vaio Laptop with the Win7 DVD but a failed internal drive that would have been most challenging to replace. Thanks to WinToFlash I was able to 'copy' the DVD onto a Flash drive (actually, it was an SD card in a Card Reader!). Saved the Vaio from becoming a parts box. I will definitely use it again as needed.

I was looking for a bootable usb in cnet because my lenovo notebook suddenly corrupted with no window display in the screen. Until I found this WintoFlash. Found out effective in making bootable usb for windows
