This program proves good things do come in small packages. While WinSettings focuses on protecting your online privacy and security, you also can use it to control screensavers and wallpaper images, change tray and system icons, customize start-up and shutdown routines, and establish background music.
The straightforward interface provides access to all the options through a program icon in the system tray or via the Control Center's tabbed interface. Along with its interesting and useful system settings and history cleaners, it includes unexpected features, such as a screen-capture utility and a Web pop-up blocker. The excellent File Associations tool offers all the tools you need to view and set active icons for each file type, as well as choose default actions, right-click options, and default programs. We used it to repair our Adobe Acrobat file association, which had broken while we were testing other software.
With its potpourri of functions, WinSettings should meet the needs of most power users.
Publisher's description
From FileStream :WinSettings, a stealth pop-up blocker, fast Web cleaner, and Windows control center, stops annoying pop-ups and protects your privacy and security when you surf the Internet. It also helps you gain more control of your Windows desktop. It offers you the option to block pop-ups before they show with a hot key override feature, or to kill all pop-ups with a single click. This intelligent pop-up blocker automatically detects and stops pop-ups and does not require you to set up a blacklist. It also cleans up unwanted tracks left on the computer from surfing the Internet and in the document menu, automatically, on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly basis, or on Windows start-up or shutdown or on-demand, with just one click. It is also a screen-capture, wallpaper-changer, and screensaver-control program.
