This program proves good things do come in small packages. While WinSettings focuses on protecting your online privacy and security, you also can use it to control screensavers and wallpaper images, change tray and system icons, customize start-up and shutdown routines, and establish background music.
The straightforward interface provides access to all the options through a program icon in the system tray or via the Control Center's tabbed interface. Along with its interesting and useful system settings and history cleaners, it includes unexpected features, such as a screen-capture utility and a Web pop-up blocker. The excellent File Associations tool offers all the tools you need to view and set active icons for each file type, as well as choose default actions, right-click options, and default programs. We used it to repair our Adobe Acrobat file association, which had broken while we were testing other software.
With its potpourri of functions, WinSettings should meet the needs of most power users.

It is also a screen capture utility with automatic capture and e-mail options. The latest version offers 29 options to clean up your tracks and 16 ways to capture, e-mail, or save screens. With WinSettings, you can set Auto Clean to automatically clean selected tracks on Windows start-up or to clean manually with a single click. WinSettings allows you to clean up your Web surfing tracks, including autocomplete data such as passwords, forms, cookies, history folder, typed URLs, cache, Documents menu, and even temporary files. You can also quickly change Windows style and appearance, play background music in a variety of formats with your own play lists, create a screensaver control, and analyze disk usage.
Version 5.1 adds the additional Clean up All URL option to clean up typed URL as well as the hidden (AutoComplete) URL tracks left on your computer.
