Wikipedia Toolbar for IE

CNET Editors' review

by: CNET Staff on February 27, 2009

Wikipedia Toolbar for Internet Explorer is great for quick lookups on the popular online encyclopedia and much more. Before you begin, you'll need to select from the assortment of languages Wikipedia offers. After that, simply type your term in the address bar, and the page you want is instantly opened. You can also do a Google-powered search of your term. The toolbar features links to Wikipedia's latest news and random and featured articles, and includes a button with links to iTunes, Amazon, and other sites. You'll be happy to know that you pick and choose what will stay on the bar and what goes.

Added perks include a pop-up blocker and tracks cleaner to instantly clear your browser's cache, history, and cookies. If those features don't please you, the e-mail alerts will. Just add your Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, or POP3 address and log-in name; the program will play a default sound or any audio from your system whenever an e-mail hits your in-box. Wikipedia Toolbar for IE has a mini forecaster right on the toolbar to keep you abreast of weather conditions. Any Wikipedia lover will adore this free add-on and its sagacious extras.
