Puzzle games are easy to find for Android devices, but their quality varies. What's the Word: 4 Pics 1 Word functions well, but is much too basic to hold a user's attention for long.
What's the Word: 4 Pics 1 Word is available for free, but coins, used for hints, cost extra depending on the number purchased. The application downloaded and installed as expected. After startup, there are no user instructions available and the main menu's tiles are not easy to interpret. Fortunately, the main play button is easy to find. In terms of gameplay, the game's simple interface presents the user with four photos. The user must determine the theme the photos have in common and type it into the program. Users can obtain hints by cashing in coins, but once they run out of coins, replenishing them requires a purchase. Unfortunately, the game has no additional features, and its simple concept becomes rather repetitive quickly. The game's sounds are also basic and add nothing to the overall experience. As a positive, the photos are well rendered and the game function, itself, is smooth.
While functional, What's the Word: 4 Pics 1 Word seems to be too simple to hold the user's attention for longer periods of time.
