Ever wonder if your PC is keeping secrets from you? Wonder no more. The freeware utility What's Running reveals all your system's active processes, services, drivers, and connections.
It's like Windows Task Manager, except far more informative. The cramped multipane interface is very hard to read, but even it has its good points: it lists processes in a parent-child hierarchy, not a bad way to accidentally spot malware. It also lets you choose which columns of information to display, and it makes stopping or prioritizing processes as simple as a mouse click--a right-click, to be precise. It even lets you control which programs launch at start-up.
Looks aside, What's Running ought to appeal to system administrators, support specialists, and tech-savvy home users who want to know precisely what their computer is up to.

Version: What's Running 2.1.1
"And the kitchen sink..........."
Pros: Beautiful Program and well Laid out. Also light on the recources compared to many others. I checked this out initially trying to get an idea truly what was running on my PC. I was comparing others as well. Much to my pleasant surprize This guy was the best. There is a ton of information and it is split into several columns. Where as the specific column at interest ex "drivers" when highlighting a runninng driver a full list of everything associated with this highlighted driver opens up to the right, showing .dll's maybe other drivers or whatever. Amazing and so well laid out. The What's running program has helped me understand my computer more. Also easily set to Kill a process, or can use the less evasive "politely kill". Many others like the ability to set priority levels watch aspecific process, which I'm not sure what this does entirely yet. AND GET THIS..........IT"S FRIGGEN FREE. Really,no "if you want this you have to register" BS. It's there, with the kitchen sink
Cons: Might throw many others asking for 29.00 or so out of business. I don't just look for free software but the What's runnign makes a statement. "Pay 30 Dollars for a less detailed less user friendly product, or take our far superior product and give it to your friends for free". Yeah I'll think about it and get back to you :D
