Customizing your desktop and screensaver is a fun way to make your computer feel like an extension of your personality. Webshots Desktop offers a way to add professional quality photos to your desktop, but doesn't offer anything different over similar programs.
With a cluttered screen and perplexing tabs, this program's interface is slightly disappointing. The tabs along the top let users view their wallpaper options, two others require registration for favorite members and online photos, and a final lets users look at the saved pictures on their computer. Below are 12 thumbnails of photos the program offers, ranging from landscapes to penguins, and all are very professionally done. To the right of the larger example photo are a series of commands like: Set As Wallpaper, Send Ecard, Order Prints, and View Slideshow.
Webshots Desktop easily applied the photos in its bank as our wallpaper and performed all its other advertised tasks well. However, we failed to be impressed because it didn't offer anything different over Windows' wallpaper program. The professional quality pictures are nice, but aren't beyond anything users couldn't find on their own. Since this is a free download, users have nothing to lose, but we would recommend handling wallpaper yourself as Webshots doesn't offer enough to make us change.

Pros: I have been a member of Webshots for almost 10 years and I recommend it highly to all who are interested.
Cons: I have nothing bad to say.
Summary: I have been able to download pictures and screensavers that you can't find anywhere else or at least anywhere I have hunted.

"Been a happy user for 5-6 years but now unhappy."
Pros: I love the options of either free daily photos of loads of free photos from non-professionals. The pro and wide screen options would be great if I could afford them. But I'm disabled w/ MS, live on Disability income and can't afford those.
Cons: Since downloading the latest upgrade, I've become very, very frustrated. But whenever I try to download others, I'm immediately driven toa screen to fill out my personal info and agree to buy the pro version. This really ticks me off!
Summary: Can anyone help me and others (who also can't afford or choose to not subscribe to the pro versions) to continue downloading daily photos. The max of 5 per day is OK but one is NOT! My only option has been to log out and back in to select a second... read more >>

"Superb photos for my desktop and screen saver."
Pros: Their catalog of photos is unmatched in anything else I've seen -- and it's all free. Lots of folks have commented on the beauty of my screen saver.
Cons: I like it all.
Summary: I don't know why everyone isn't using WebShots for their desktop and screen saver.

Cons: There should be other ways to pay other than auto card card renewal. I realize this is an income maker but just maybe some people like to pay for what they get without having to make notes to cancel.
