CNET Editors' review
WeFi distances itself from the pack of Internet hot-spot finders by adding a social element to its Wi-Fi-seeking. In addition to detecting and automatically connecting to hot spots, WeFi offers an interactive community for building up a collective Wi-Fi databse, finding friends while out and about, and discovering new contacts. Privacy is always an option, and easy to configure in the settings on WeFi.com. On the hot-spot tab, we like WeFi's clean look, summary of the spots in range, and description of the hot spot's security settings. Kudos also goes to WeFi's verification of hot spots after a laptop is connected. The People tab similarly organizes friends and adds chatting.
More nitty-gritty results filtration would be welcomed on the app interface for users interested in sniffing out a particular class of hot spot.

"Disappointing. MS/Vista meter was better."
Version: WeFi 3.1
Pros
Liked the way it could detect users on the network so that direct chatting was possible. Liked connecting to a user supported search group that could find and review other Wi-Fi hot spots.
Cons
Was hoping it could tell me more about the networks, could do a better job of sniffing out the networks and give me some sort of directional info that I could use to get closer to the network source -- a better signal.
Summary
If your looking for a package that will let you know what and whom is in your computers listening range, this is the bucket of bits for you. But if you're a serious worker who is just looking for a free hot spot to check your email, upload your assignment or check in at the office. You're better off using the meter that comes with windows. Of course you can still log on to www.wifi.com to check the reviews without downloading the disappointing meter and that will keep you up to date on the newest, free hot spots in your area.

"Funny name but good software for wi-fi"
Version: WeFi 3.1

Very Very easy for me to find Wi-Fi internet in my home town and in the city where I work. I also see people around me who also usee WeFi, this is tres bon
Cons
It looks too much like Skype - is confusing
Summary
I like about WeFi that I can see all the Wi-Fi networks (I don't know why they call them "spots") and I see right away which network is open and which is a "coffee house"
Also the maps is very good - I see where in my town there is Wi-Fi, I didn't even know there was so much! -

"No longer auto-connect to wifi after delete"
Version: WeFi 3.1
Cons
Warning this software will mess up you wifi connections if you decide to delete it. It will no longer auto-connect. Company produced a fix, but it did not work. Only way to fix is with a hard reset.

"Excellent, Easy to Use"
Version: WeFi 3.1
Pros
I love that WeFi helps me find local WiFi users, and hotspots I didn't know about.
Cons
It sometimes conflicts with my native WiFi server.
-
"Crashed"
Version: WeFi 3.1
Pros
The possibility of creating a private peer-to-peer connection over a wireless network sounded nice.
Cons
Crashes on startup, tries to send the crash report using Outlook - which I don't use, WeFi sends Firefox to their website for a final farewell and has another crash report form there. So I try to tell them about it again, only I get an error - browser sent illegal object to apache server, so I give up and just run a registry cleaner after uninstalling. I'm using XP Pro SP2, Firefox 2, and a Netgear WG111T USB adapter

-
