With this effort, WeFi successfully tailors the two-pronged desktop version of its hot-spot-finding application to Pocket PCs. Like its laptop cousin, WeFi for Pocket PC detects available hot spots and, when the feature is enabled, automatically connects to them. Filters for sorting hot spots by signal strength and security are accessible from the soft key menu, and immensely useful for winnowing results. So, too, is the option to automate a browser launch after connecting online.
So far this beta sticks to seeking out the Internet, whereas the PC build also emphasizes social networking with other surfers nearby. We'd like to see this functionality built into the mobile app. First-time users should also be able to register for an account from WeFi for Pocket PC.

Version: WeFi for Pocket PC 1.7
"Wonderful software!!! Very easy to use, very helpful!!!"
Pros: Takes the frustration out of regular Wi-Fi use. I no longer even think about it ? I simply activate my Wi-Fi and I know I?m going to be connected to a spot with Internet behind it.
The OneTouch panel is a genius idea!Cons: I only wish the OneTouch panel had more than 5 buttons, the idea is great but I have way more than 5 links / applications I would like to use in it.
Summary: I love it. It?s simple, it works perfectly, I can finally use my device Wi-Fi capability without being frustrated by the long process of finding a spot with Internet behind.
Will recommend to everyone I know with WinMo. -

"not perfect, but MUCH better than any other"
Pros: It is stil "rough around the edges" but works very well on my MIO
it is so easy now to find and connect to Wi-Fi hotpspots
It also shows me that we have a lot more open Wi-Fi in our street that I could imagineCons: I am not sure how the "power saving slider" works - it needs to have more explanation
Summary: For all the poor people that bought a Win Mobile phone because it has Wi-Fi and then got an ulcer trying to use it - this is really a new level of comfort in fonding and connecting to Wi-Fi.
This "one-touch" idea is really nice - you can config... read more >> -

"Could be better, but it's free."
Pros: It's simple.
Cons: It doesn't do much more than the built-in WiFi on the AT&T Tilt.

"Does not work on Windows Mobile 6.x"
Pros: Had it worked, I would be able to actually post something here.
Cons: Doesn't work on my Motorola Q9h Global with Windows Mobile 6.x (I have 6.0 but can upgrade freely to 6.1, but am waiting to upgrade for now).
Summary: After installing, my phone refused to connect to ANYTHING. Would not connect to my home network (through either bluetooth or data cable), could not access my email, web browser refused to load any pages, etc. Even tried restarting the phone a few ti... read more >>

Version: WeFi for Pocket PC 1.7
Pros: no idea, did not use it.
Cons: Installation corrupted by WiFi settings. Product removal did not restore the settings. I had to make a hard reset to restore the settings on Windows Mobile 6.1. The author did not do his/her homework!
