"UNinstall first!"
Version: Wacom Tablet 6.05-3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
To make this work I found that runing the Wacom Tbalet UNinstaller first and then this installer version makes things work fine again.
So, UNinstall first (look in your Programms folder for Wacom uninstaller) -

Don't Bother - Bad upgrade - I'm not a novice
As soon as I upgraded / restarted / nothing was in the preference pane. So I immediatly grabbed my old CD and re-installed the original Wacom/Intuous Pen software
Don't Bother = Below is a rating of the upgrade The Wacom Pad from 12-2006 is great! -

OK -- had to overcome user error, but this package works great in Tiger on a PowerPC mac. Very happy with the feature set. -
"Did not solve my fast user switching problem"
Version: Wacom Tablet 4.94-4
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I removed wacom's old driver for my tablet. I then installed this update. I was really hoping that my tablet would now work properly when fast user switching was employed, but I was disappointed. I installed the new driver. I then switched to a second user. For that user it worked. I stayed logged in and switched to a third user and my mouse would not move across the screen. I logged out this user, then I logged out the second user and logged back into my user. Then, the mouse/tablet worked again. Fast user switching has never worked properly with this tablet on my computer, not since it was first instituted in Panther, and the problem continues on into Tiger. -
"Not Good..."
Version: Wacom Tablet 4.94-4
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
DANGER... on a normally placid 10.4.3 system, I too hastily installed this update for my Intous 3 tablet. BIG mistake... I knew it installed a kext, so I expected a "force" restart, but that didn't happen. Thought it was odd, so I re-booted anyway. Gray Apple, but no package loading.
Did my usual bag of tricks, but nothing got me to the point where I'd see the "spinning lines." Had to boot from another system and delete the 2 items it installs (/System/Libary/Extensions/) and the 2 kext cache files. Finally, it booted. Reinstalled 4.93-3 and all it functioning properly.
According to Wacom's site, 4.94-4 is not a release version but a candidate. -
"Stick with version 4.8.7-2"
Version: Wacom Tablet 4.9.1-3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
My Intuos 3 mouse kept irritatingly letting go whatever I happened to be dragging in the middle of the way ! Sometimes over opened apps, sometimes over folders... I had to do a search to find out where my file was !
Everything went back to normal when I downgraded to the old and reliable 4.8.7-2 driver !
I am using Tiger X.4.2 on a G4 17" PowerBook. -
"Doesn't work with Graphire"
Version: Wacom Tablet 4.9.1-3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Good Hardware, poor Software. I don't know why they always mess up the drivers at Wacom. This one doesn't work at all with The Graphire 1 Tablet. And yes, I de-installed the old driver and repaired the rights. I think Wacom doesn't know which driver works with which tablet. Go to the download-site, choose tablet and OS and you get three or more possible drivers THAT SHOULD WORK. But only one does.
