"Good WATERMARKED DEMO (all output is stamped) !freeware"
Version: Vue Pioneer 9.1
Pros
It's a very cool DEMO application. Compared to earlier generations of this genre, which required substantial time R'ingTFM - this is quite intuitive (and doesn't require advanced math or (spacial/spectral) dynamics and geometry) and facilitates learning pretty rapidly. Mainly for learning, and sampling the PAY version's functionality.
Cons
WATERMARKED DEMO-WARE (A pet-peeve of mine. Worse than trialware or limited-functionality freeware, because nothing you create is really usable - since it's all polluted with the watermark). Previous reviewer points this out, saying it probably should be mentioned prominently, but is a little too forgiving, IMFAO.
Ever tried that "free" recording or audio-conversion software that puts a loud "BEEEEP or even a NAG in the audio output every few seconds? Totally annoying and worthless as a tool. This is the visual equivalent to "BEEEEEEEP!" ;-)Summary
I'm not rating the PURCHASE/PAID version of the product. If I were, it'd get probably 4+ stars. This "free" version is strictly to sample the functionality, and/or learn the basics of 3D content creation; it's virtually unusable for actually creating any 3D graphic/art for content, website or whatever. For just LEARNING the basics, and more technical aspects, of 3D art/rendering - it's cool. If you are already an artist, you need to know that you probably will not be using this to create or compose anything - though perhaps it will entice you to BUY. Not sure if projects/files can be transferred to the PAY-version, but I assume they would facilitate this.
This is just IMFAO - so nothing personal.
FREE software is software that works as designed, and is FREE (for whatever reason - visibility, evangelism, etc.. for which it WORKS, often. The amateurs who would never buy the s/w get fluent at it, perhaps move beyond amateur, and GUESS WHAT? They are expert users of your software. The newer, more full-featured PRO version is their tool-of-choice as they enter the profession. If I'm an aspiring 3D modeler/artist, I'm probably greatly put-off by the watermark. That's probably obvious at this point. I'd rather a *time-* or function-limited version, or older version, rather than watermarked. It's like "free" recording software that puts a "BEEP" every 15 seconds - the perpetual "nag". ;-) -

"Good, but compatability can be questionable."
Version: Vue Pioneer 9.1
Pros
FREE. Seems to be pretty-much 'fully featured'. And is relatively easy to get into.
Cons
Compatability issues, that ought to be picked up whilst installing. Unsurprisingly memory-hungry, with (I think) 2GB recommended as a bare minimum (though it will run on half-a-gig), and 4-or-more preferred. Graphics card requirements can be tricky.
Summary
Perhaps I'm being mean, only giving it 4-stars. To get the quality they need, the memory issue is perfectly understandable, as is the need for a generally-well-specced machine and fairly specific Graphics card(s) - especially all for FREE. However, I do think more could be done to at least flag possible conflicts up during the installation.
One thing I didn't have room for in the 'Cons' above is that your output will have a watermark. Again, reasonably understandable, with it being free, but I didn't notice any 'warning' about that fact.
All-in-all, if you're 'into' 3D, this is well worth having.
