From NirSoft Freeware :Volumouse provides a quick and easy way to control the sound volume on your system - simply by rolling the wheel of your wheel mouse. It allows you to define a set of rules for determining when the wheel will be used for changing the sound volume. For example: You can configure Volumouse to use your mouse wheel for volume control when the Alt key is hold down, when a mouse button is down, when the mouse cursor is over the taskbar.

"works perfectly and very simple to use.... well done"
Pros: it is a small piece of software, very easy to figure out and a lot of things you can controle.....
Cons: maybe the looks could be a little bit better...

"Volumouse is a great little program ... BUT ..."
Pros: It plugs into the one great missing software that everyone craves - which is a volume level control program.
Cons: I've had it with having to jump on dear old Volumouse each time the audio level suddenly rises or falls.
Summary: Volumouse is a triumph of simplicity, but let's have a permanent software fix for audio playbacks suddenly switching from barely audible to bust-your-ear deafening.
