Publisher's description
From Windows X :Windows Vista looks really nice for major GUI updates. Many people who have seen it wish to get Vista-style looks for their operating system. It might sounds stupid to say this since you all know what it is but just bear it. This program will transform your Windows user interface to ultimate Windows Vista alike looks that everyone will never notice its the same old Windows XP (or 2003)

Version: Vista Transformation Pack 6
Pros: What a huge let-down!
I saw the download featured on Download.com, and thought to myself: Could this be? A free download that lets my XP have the only features I really want from Vista (for now, till all its compatibility issues are sorted out): Cool interface and window transparency. The screen shot on the Windows X website convinced me. I downloaded, installed... and then...
Cons: #1 no transparency
#2 no shadows
#3 the rounded taskbar start button isn't aligned correctly
#4 The Vista Sidebar doesn't work on dual monitors (stuck on Monitor 1)
Read the fine print. The coolest effect (and the reason you probably want to download this software) like transparency is provided only by WindowsBlinds that you'd have to buy for $20 or something like that, and has nothing to do whatsoever with this download pack. Bummer.
Have a look at the Brocopacs on CrystalXP dot net, you'd be much better off.

Version: Vista Transformation Pack 6
Pros: It might work ok for some? If you think you need this, go for it...
There are many many many many many warnings from the author of the program not to install, or to install at your risk, so at least he does try to inform you ahead of time that it's going to muck up your system like there's no tomorrow, no ifs, ands or buts about it.
Cons: This thing is bad news. Very few components of it actually work properly.
Might want to disable any antivirus/firewall etc you have running, this thing will continually set off all kinds of alarms about invaders, risk/malware/viruses etc, & the sidebar will want to keep connecting out to... Microsoft, I think it was. Not saying anything malicious is actually in the program, but by it's nature it will trip your anti-malware programs a lot is all.
Extreme system instability issues on XP SP2, & it looks awful - probably due to the fact that it's not skinning completely. Most of it usually crashes on startup, parts of it may kind of sort of function as intended, sometimes, for a little while. The rest of it will crash sooner or later after it's loaded. Causes explorer to crash all the time too, if not immediatley after startup, then not long after...
WILL NOT UNINSTALL...
Reinstalling to try to fix it, or fix the uninstall issues, does not work either.
Definitely not worth the trouble. You're pretty much looking at a reformat/reinstall to sort this all out correctly.
Hope you keep a seperate windows disk/partition from all your important documents/programs if you do decide to install this beast.
I appreciate your efforts... thanks, but no thanks, Mr. Windows X.

"Nice to look at until you really change to Vista"
Pros: I have been using this program for almost a month and it hasn't messed up my computer. It looks pretty close to Vista so you can have your XP and not worry about all the bugs, driver issues etc that Vista has.
Cons: Be careful what you choose when you are setting up the software. Hard to say what all the options do. I have my XP cloned on another hard drive. I suggest 2 hard drives because uninstalling the program does not work.

"Converts your Windows XP to Windows Vista Ultimate"
Pros: when you install the Vista Transformation package it changes
everything to Windows Vista.
Cons: However, it will not change the
My Computer Icon and the recycle bin or My Network Places. It
stays the same yes the Windows XP icons are the same. It
makes your computer go a little slow. Sometimes, there is a
pop-up info that saids "Changing the the style to vista" What's
up with that? I also noticed I
can't uninstall the program. If you really
want Windows Vista buy it.

Version: Vista Transformation Pack 6
"delivers wat it promises to do but"
Pros: *** delivers wat it promises to do and that too free. the installation may look difficult and risky to some but me myself being a novice as far as computers are concerned found its installation easy considering wat it does to ur pc. the installation wont be a prob if u follow and undersatand the risks involved, before u install this prog make sure u create a restore point, also it s advisable u install this in safe mode.also i ddnt alter the system restore, taskmanager related options. the tranparency issue as pointed out by someone can be easily sorted out if u download and install glass 2k software frm chimes.tv.com and install it, ( creating a restore point before that too). i own a win xp sp2 based pc with 256 ram (and no additional graphic card) with a 2.4 Ghz pent. 4 processor. has no virus ar any malware attached as pointed out by someone, my antivirus detected just a change in system file and not a virus!
Cons: makes the system a bit slow specialy after u install glass 2k application for transparency, but that is something to be expected
