"Not for Windows 7 or for MKV Files"

Pros
Free. At least money-wise.
Cons
screen is barely readable under Windows 7, the fonts are all messed up. Did not convert an MKV file, and didn't even give me an error message. It simply didn't do anything.
Tries to install lots of other junk (watch carefully on install) -
"Install description reads: ver 8.0, not 9.1."

When it works it's very good - does just what's advertised.
Cons
Doesn't work well in Win7; crashes frequently. Very frustrating therefore.
Summary
It seems to be the only game in town for converting video files to TiVo format.
