Publisher's Description
From VextraSoft:
Vextractor is a vectorizer software for transforming raster images into vector formats by building centerlines and outlines. This tool could be used for vectorizing of charts, drawings, maps and schemes for input to CAD or GIS systems. Also you can vectorize logotypes and other similar line art images for using in Vector Graphic Design software. An application has an option to setup a reference for images, in other words to assign a real coordinates to certain raster points. Thus, you can get vector data not only in the raster coordinates, but real geographical coordinates or in the chart coordinates.
Main Features:
- Create centerlines and outlines
- Arcs and circles recognition
- Orthogonal lines recognition
- Polylines smoothing
- Vector editor
- Smart trace method for passing polylines crossings
- Input raster formats: BMP, GIF, TIFF, JPEG, PCX, TGA, PNG, WBMP, ICO
- Raster image noise filtration
- TWAIN32-compatible scanners support
What's new in this version:
- Drawing vectorization has been significantly improved. Now vectorization give a match better results on noised images.
- All raster preprocessing algorithms was optimized.

"Good conceptual design, but is buggy."
Version: Vextractor 4.70
Pros
Has some very nice features on the raster cleanup portion. Many tools to get the job done!
Cons
It constantly runs out of memory, even on a WorkHorse PC, Dual core Pentium with 4 gb ram. Frustrating to say the least. Their Website or Help doesn't get you anywhere.

"Good raster to vector conversion software"
Version: Vextractor 4.1
Pros
Good quality for map and drawing conversion.
Cons
Some problem with tuning because of many options...
-
"Buggy"
Version: Vextractor 3.5
Pros
Lots of great options, it would be great if it worked.
Cons
When I tried to vectorize an image it would work correctly.
