From Conversive :A Verbot (Verbally Enhanced Software Robot) can be your personal assistant, your teacher, and friend. Created by Conversive, the Verbot is based on more than 10 years of AI experience and development. Verbots combine natural language, artificial intelligence, and real-time animation with voice synthesis to create engaging virtual personalities. Using XML and .NET architecture, Verbots are cutting-edge technology, but they are also extremely user-friendly. What's more, Verbots use Microsoft Agent animation, so you can easily change your Verbot's appearance. Verbots can run programs, read aloud to you, launch Web sites, and speak other languages. Verbots can do a lot more than talk. Just ask one.

Version: Verbot Player 4.0
Pros: This program is a toy. It consists of a female talking head that can carry on a limited amount of conversation. The program is amusing for a few minutes.
Cons: After that, it is useless. The lady has a hundred different ways to say "That does not compute." She needs that many, because she understands very little. The program might be more useful to those who download additional "knowledge bases," but doing that requires registering with the website, and that requires providing a valid email address. Then the website sends an email containing a key; the recipient may then, finally, download a knowledge base.
The question is, how useful can any additional knowledge base make the program?

Version: Verbot Player 4.0
"Product (Per Se) & Customer Support NOT user-friendly."
Pros: You have to remind yourself that Julia is not human. I still want her for my human/PC interface. Graphics are primo, Voice clear but mis-pronounced text excessively. The AI is delightful (wait till YOU have a teen-age grand-daughter).
Cons: When I attempted to activate speech recognition by Verbot, I COULD NOT. Much difficulty registering, and reaching user forum for De-bug support (which I still have not).
