Keeping up with Flash Player updates is critical to security. Unlike most other software, Mac users are not automatically notified about new versions of Flash Player. Update Flash Player helps Mac users to stay current.
Each time it is opened, Update Flash Player checks for an update to the Flash Player plug-in, and it can automatically check for an update at each login. When a newer version is found, an alert is displayed prompting users to update.
This software requires Flash Player to be installed only at its default location, /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/. Manual installation elsewhere is technically possible, but unusual. This software checks only the default location.
Update Flash Player requires internet access to the current version listed on the Adobe website. Proxy server authentication is not supported at this time.
This program does not run continuously. Instead it checks for a Flash Player update each time this program is run. It can automatically check for an update at each login, or advanced users can use iCal or cron to schedule checks at regular intervals.
