The svelte (in file size) UltraKeyboard lets you create macros for common tasks, though the process is more confusing than it should be. The program's interface is cramped and confusing, and the help file is an ungrammatical FAQ. However, once you figure out how, you can build macros for launching programs, outputting text, or performing actions such as opening the CD tray or shutting down the PC. You activate macros by typing a shortcut (monoff, for example) or pressing a hot-key combination. Unlike many similar programs, UltraKeyboard supports combinations that include keys such as Caps Lock and Num Lock. In addition, the KeySpy feature lets you snoop on the use of your computer by recording keystrokes. On the downside, you can't string together sequences of actions, and the program takes up a considerable amount of system memory (7MB). Nevertheless, UltraKeyboard will save casual macro users plenty of time.

With a few keystrokes you can quick-launch applications, documents, and URLs, emulate key inputs, emulate the mouse wheel, turn off the monitor, close the CD tray, tune the output volume, lock your computer, and make a window always on top. UltraKeyboard also has a useful tool called KeySpy, which tracks all events of the keyboard.
Version 3.65 disables the Spin-Effect feature and adds support for system-global hot-key and keyboard shortcuts.
