Most Windows users are familiar with the Disk Defragmenter utility -- or, at least, they should be. Defragmenting your hard drive can improve your computer's performance by making sure that files are all stored in one spot on the disk. There are plenty of alternatives to the built-in Windows defragmenter, including UltraDefrag (32-bit). This program comes with a defragmenter and other optimization tools that can ensure that your computer is performing as it should.
UltraDefrag has a simple interface that will look familiar to anyone who's used this kind of software before. We clicked the Analyze button, and the program quickly performed an analysis and displayed the results in a cluster map. We then clicked the Defragment button and UltraDefrag did its thing. We decided to check its results by running the native Windows utility; oddly, that program reported that we needed to defrag our disk, even though we just had. We returned to UltraDefrag and ran its Optimization feature. This took quite some time, but when we were done, the Windows utility confirmed that our disk no longer required defragmenting; UltraDefrag had done a thorough job. The program has a fairly detailed online Help file, but it's definitely geared toward people who already have some familiarity with the concepts of defragmenting and optimizing your hard drive. Overall, we found UltraDefrag to be a nice alternative to the built-in Windows Disk Defragmenter, and we recommend it.

UltraDefrag reduces the file fragmentation, thus it makes disk operations faster. Also the program can optimize a whole disk placing all the files to the fastest part of the disk - to its beginning.
What's new in this version: Version 5.0.6 has added "Debug" item to the help menu and "View change log", "View translation report", and "Submit current translation" items to language menu.

Pros
Note: The first quick defrag is slow, after that extremely fast.
Boot defrag, has exclusions of many files that would be redundant to defrag.
Boot Defrags files that can't be done while the computer is running normally.Cons

I have bought many a defragmenter. Would have paid for this program, as for my use, it is perfect.
All that fancy optimizing, kept changing the prefetch xp, and superfetch on vista, just slows your computer done.
Ultradefrag does have optimize along with plain defrag. This optimizer is different, it defrags and consolidates free space only. Doesn't move frequent files around, which defeats the purpose of windows prefetch schemes. That way the prefetch, superfetch are changed very little, thus the computer knows where the program is on the drive, speed.
I back my computer up, after the full backup, my incrementals are 1/4 the size, be it to a disk drive or dvd. -

Pros
Have an older XP tower with a hard drive that could never be properly defrag with MS utility (no matter how may attempts) for years. Decided to give this a try....
On the first run 67 fragmented files were reduced to 9! The anal retentive side of me decided to keep going. So I ran the MS utility and it seemed to improve even more. So went back and forth between Ultra and MS (about three times) until "0" fragmented files was achieved!!! Holly Crap!!!!Cons
NONE! At least from this initial experience.
Summary
For the first time in years, my hard drive is clean... Will definitely install on my laptops. I too would recommend this program!
