Publisher's description
From DiskTrix :UltimateDefrag lets you defrag and optimize your hard drive any way you want to. Hard drive file use adheres to the Pareto Rule of 80/20. 80% of the time you only use 20% of the files on your hard drive. UltimateDefrag lets you place those unused files out of the way onto the slower tracks of your drive. UltimateDefrag also considers the high performance areas of your hard drive (the outer tracks) and enables you to strategically place the files and folders you want the best performance from to these faster outer tracks. UltimateDefrag also provides the first true disk display metaphor in a defragger. UltimateDefrag can place Directories next to your MFT for very fast MFT/Directory transactions. This alone vastly accelerates performance of your hard drive. Includes over 55 total defrag method combinations. When done right, your hard drive performance will increase by up to 100%.
Version 1.46 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Version: UltimateDefrag 1.46
Pros: The small file size. That's about it.
Cons: My system is a Dell Dimension 8250, P4 3.06 GHz CPU, 1.5 GB of RAM, running Win XP SP2 fully updated. The version here is "old". A newer version (1.52) is available from the developer's site. From March to May 2007 (2 months), it went from version 1.46 to version 1.52. This is plain SCARY! When I selected one of my two Western Digital 120 GB hard drives (UDMA5) for analysis (which was Scandisk'd and defragged yesterday), the program reported the drive contained 86,149 files taking 42,151 MB of space on the disk. However, the drive actually contains 374,691 files taking up 88 GB of disk space. Needless to say, I did NOT tell it to defrag my hard drive. The graphical image of the hard drive showed mostly a green color, which is not even listed in the table of colors provided. So, I have no idea what this color represents. The colors representing contiguous and fragmented files did NOT show the correct values, as most of the color displayed was green. When I selected a 1 KB file and used the "Highlight this file" feature, the disk image displayed a blinking area that was representative of a 100 MB or 200 MB file, NOT a 1 KB file. So this function doesn't work properly either. When loading the HTML help file, it contains a single line telling you to read the PDF help file. Sheesh, then why have a HTML Help file and a shortcut to it at all?! The PDF Help file makes reference to many functions / capabilities / settings that I could not find anywhere in the program menu, program Options, OR the individual function selection Options dialog boxes. From my brief use of this program, it *appears* to be an untested Alpha version (frown), and they want $40 for it?! That's nuts!
