"Just like iMovie"
Version: Ulead VideoStudio 10
Pros
I was looking for something on the PC as similar as possible to Apple's iMovie, and this program comes pretty dang close. Ulead VideoStudio takes in almost all video file formats, just not FLV files (which I always convert to MP4s anyways using PSP Video 9 or ApecSoft Flash Video Converter. Ulead VideoStudio 10 did accept the files generated by both those programs). It's extremely easy to use; the interface is very reminiscent of iMovie, with the images and audio files and video clips on a clipboard on the top right, a timeline or block view or audio view along the bottom, and a monitor on the top left. Everything is draggable and can be cut or stretched using intuitive moves of the mouse. When "sharing", Ulead VideoStudio generates good-quality files in a variety of formats, from PSP/iPod-friendly MP4 videos, to WMVs that are small in size but high in quality. And the ability to use it full-featured for 30 days is great, too. Oh yeah, and under "audio view", you can control the volume of your video over time: if some parts are loud and some parts are quiet (in which case you'd want to lower the volume in the loud parts or turn it up in the quiet parts), or if there are parts where you want to turn the music up and the video sound down and other parts when you want to turn the music down and the video sound up, then you can do all that, to get your video to sound just right. You do this by dragging a volume-level line up and down along the length of each clip - again, just like in iMovie. Ulead VideoStudio can supposedly burn VCD/DVD disks that you can watch on your TV by playing on your DVD player, and it supposedly can import from (and export to) your DV camcorder, but I did not test this. What I wanted to do was edit video files (such as .MOV/.MP4 files from my digital camera, downloaded/converted YouTube videos, and videos from sites like FlightLevel350.com), make them into music montages, extract the best parts to put up on YouTube, etc, and Ulead VideoStudio allows me to do these things easily and well.
Cons
Not so much a "con", more of a "be careful not to mess this up": When you import a file (video clip, MP3, image, etc) into a Ulead VideoStudio project, even if you incorporate the file (or some section of it) into your video project, Ulead VideoStudio will get the content of that file from its original location every time the project is opened. Ulead VideoStudio will not make a copy of the file! This saves you Hard Drive space, but it means that, for example, if you're making a video and one clip is in C:/videos/clip1.mov, and at some point you delete or move or rename clip1.mov so that C:/videos/clip1.mov no longer exists as such, you'll be in trouble when you open the Ulead VideoStudio project that has some part of C:/videos/clip1.mov in it. Now, Ulead VideoStudio will notice this, and ask you to "re-link" to the file (i.e. find its current name and location), so if you can do that, you're OK. But the thing is, whenever you save a Ulead VideoStudio project that you may want to edit in the future, you have to carefully keep track of all the files that went into it, make sure you remember where they are, and make sure they are available when you want to edit the video project. Not a big deal if you keep all your video files in one giant external HD like me. However, if you want to pull just the relevant files (MP3s, video clips, images) into a temporary folder that will be gone once the video-project editing is over, then this is something that will get in the way of you being able to edit your videos in the future, unless you back up that whole folder of files along with the Ulead VideoStudio project.

"Saved My Life (Not really)"
Version: Ulead VideoStudio 10
Pros
VERY easy to use, easy to cut and mix scenes and add audio. It was a small file, and i figured out how to use it (even though i had never edited a video before!) Two thumbs up for beginners and one thumb up for experts.

"The Best for the Price"
Version: Ulead VideoStudio 10
Pros
This versatile software can be learned in a day. I tried many different video editing software programs for weeks, and this is the best I found. I have made various dvd's as well as MPEG'S using this software. It is very user friendly and imports every file I have tried. It converts and makes videos of great quality for the average user!!! It does take a while to convert but the outcome is great!!
Cons
None, this is a great product

"okay---but i smell problems"
Version: Ulead VideoStudio 10
Pros
Very easy to figure out
Cons
They cut me off 4 days into my 30 day free 'try before you buy' period. I don't think I'll buy if that's how they do things!!

"Easy to use - quick to learn"
Version: Ulead VideoStudio 10
Pros
I like the fact that I was able to edit a movie, post it on google video and get praises about it in only 1 hour of work with no previous experience.
Cons
It crashes sometimes. You need to save your project frequently.
-
"Fantastic and highly reccomended!"
Version: Ulead VideoStudio 10
Pros
I'd tried a whole bunch of similar software, and this is by far the best. Easy to use (great to newbies!), gets the job done, didn't crash on me, didn't drive me crazy. I'll buy it when I have money...
Cons
Not many "special effects" on the trial version. Just the very basic stuff. Oh, and expensive... at least it's a 30-day trial!

"overlay, titles and effects are very good"
Version: Ulead VideoStudio 10
Pros
Overlay effects are very good, titles have almost any effect and design possible. It runns pretty fast and there is no delays for previewing. Very easy to edit on timeline.
Cons
Although did not ask me, it installed QuickTime as well and changed assigned video file extensions to it, but this can be easy uninstalled.
While saving file there is no estimation of file size.
Funcy design, but a bit difficult to navigate around it, because not all possible functions are on screen.
Overall good progam if you are into video editing and effects are amazing.
