Publisher's description
From SafelyRemove :USB Safely Remove is a powerful and handy manager of peripheral devices. First of all it replaces native Safely Remove Hardware tool and significantly improves safe removal function: it gives an opportunity to hide any device out of sight, to rename devices, to disconnect them with a keyboard shortcut and it displays which program prevent devices from being stopped. Next, it allows to manage letters of USB drives: to change drive letters easily, mount drives as NTFS folders and allows to automatically hide card reader drives which does not contain a media inserted. The program will be useful and saves much time for those people who often uses more than one USB device, or has a card reader.
Version 4.0.5.707 features: Command line tool now has the ability to "Return device back".

Version: USB Safely Remove 4.0.5.707
"Way better than native removal tool!"
Pros: First it makes removing drives a snap. Click the icon and then the drive. Better yet use assignable shortcuts. has an option to see volume name instead the confusing device name. Also tells what program stops removal so you can close it.
Cons: not a problem so far
Summary: The icon hides when no there is no device to remove so its never a hindrance. There when you need it, only the stroke of a shortcut. makes removal VERY speedy. If you have ever been annoyed by the native device removal, this will solve it.

Version: USB Safely Remove 4.0.5.707
Pros: It has a nice feature to show all items or hide certain ones. It also assigns each drive a letter, so every time you plug it in it will be the same letter drive.
Cons: IT'S NOT FREE! The download.com page said there is a nag-screen, it does have a nag-screen, but it says how much longer you have to evaluate the software before your 30-day evaluation is over.
Summary: It also won't stop my hard drive because when it tells you what apps are preventing it from opening, it says "USB Safely Remove". so even if you did want to pay for it, it's not worth the money
