Publisher's description
From SafelyRemove :USB Safely Remove is a handy substitute for 'Safely Remove Hardware'. It guarantees the safety of your data when the device is stopped, and allows you to make the removal process maximum convenient and adjustable. The device stopping menu will now show only the devices you really need. You can easily change the name of any device, but in most cases, USB Safely Remove assigns simple names automatically. You can assign a beautiful standard icon to the device, or upload your own from a disc. Besides, USB Safely Remove is a wonderful tool automating the work with your devices, because it has a built-in powerful command line. Everybody who mainly work with a keyboard, will love an oportunity to stop devices or view their contents using keyboard shortcuts. But the main thing is that the unique technology allows USB Safely Remove to accurately define what prevents the removal and get rid of the problem easily.

Version: USB Safely Remove 3
Pros: Pros: Fast detection of usb devices and offers more features than the MS built-in. The best feature is that you can hide your SATA hard drives and still be able to use the program. This is something that the built-in can't do unless you have to set the icon to hide for good. The program also came preloaded with icons that you can choose for your devices image or you can load your own.
Cons: Cons: Hard to find any cons for this little gem. The only thing it need to improve is the process of choosing the device image. Once you select this options, the program doesn't have a Cancel or Go back button, forcing you to choose a image. It also would be nice if the hard drive and keyboard icon is included.

Version: USB Safely Remove 3
"A worthy replacement of Microsoft's Safely Remove Hardware Function"
Pros: The innovative and intuitive interface shows a neat summary of attached USB devices (visible AND hidden).
A great mouse-click saver, with a neat and graceful device removal feature, especially when it can analyze and shows what is preventing a graceful USB device ejection.
Cons: May need to increase the default device icon library, as I can't find a scanner icon.

Version: USB Safely Remove 3
"Does exactly what it says on the tin."
Pros: If you ever have more than one USB device connected - MP3 player, USB pen drive, external HDD etc then this is a valuable piece of software, and far more useful than the in-built Microsoft USB manager.
Cons: Only of value if you regularly use more than one USB device.

Version: USB Safely Remove 3
"Great improvement over windows built in utility"
Pros: This app will tell you if file locking is preventing you from safely ejecting your USB drive. This lets you close the application or file in question and safely Eject your Drive. Very intuitive GUI.
Cons: Failed to identify Diskeeper Defrag as the offender when attempting to safely remove the USB drive. Kept telling me that a service with higher rights must be the culprit but gave me no clue as to which one. Had to find this out through trial and error and stop the Diskeeper service manually before attempting to stop the USB Device. Tested on SandDisk U3 Cruzer.

Version: USB Safely Remove 3
"Much better than Microsoft's version"
Pros: The Microsoft version of Safely Remove Hardware is so lame it's annoying. If things go well, you have to click through too much and then, when successful, it leaves the screen open.
Often the MS one will tell you to try again later. What does that mean? USB Safely Remove tracks down the application(s) that have locked the device and will let you close the application from it! This is an elegant solution to an annoying problem.
USB Safely Remove is an example of solving a problem with grace and intelligence. As a professional software developer, I appreciate the value of this.
This makes using temporarily-connected USB devices a snap to use.
