Publisher's Description
From New Breed Software:
Tux Paint is a paint program intended for young children (ages 3 and up). It has a very simple and fun-to-use interface, lots of sound effects, and a cartoon penguin who helps explain things. A variety of drawing tools are available, including a set of 'magic' special effect tools, and a 'rubber stamp' (or 'stickerbook') tool for placing pre-drawn and photographed images into a picture.
Tux Paint is free software, released under an Open Source license. It has been translated into over 2 dozen languages, including Spanish, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Greek and Hebrew. It also runs on Mac OS X, Linux and BeOS.

"Great Educational Art Program"
Version: Tux Paint 0.9.20
Pros
Wonderful, simple and enjoyable software that delights young children learning to use a computer for art and learning. Good set of basic tools, and "Magic" tool is surprisingly powerful. Thanks for creating such a fine piece of FREE software.
Cons
Version 0.9.19 does not allow program window to be maximized to full screen-size for non-600x800 monitors, and this confuses very young users
Summary
A definitely beneficial program to teach young children, and beginners to computers, how to use computers for art.

"Tux Paint"
Version: Tux Paint 0.9.14
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've used this in an elementary / primary school and was disappointed that I couldn't export the paintings to other programs that could be used by the kids. Each painting is stored somehow inside the programme and can't be accessed apart from it.
It's an impressive programme that compares favourably with KidsPix but an export facility will bring it closer. -
