Though many gamers might dismiss it after a glance at the graphics, Turbo Sliders is a full-featured and addictive racing game with excellent online multiplayer races. The decent learning curve will keep players coming back, as will the challenge of mastering five kinds of cars. Jumping into a network multiplayer game takes only seconds, making Turbo Sliders perfect for coffee-break fun. The included track editor isn't the simplest feature, but it adds the possibility of creating and uploading your own tracks for online racing.
Turbo Sliders displays the action from a top-down 2D perspective, and the style of racing is standard arcade. Four directional buttons are the lone driving controls. The five styles of car--Easy Slider, Slider, Speeder, Antislider, and Spinner--have distinctive strengths and weaknesses, but the standard Slider is the best one for learning the game. Turbo Sliders is extremely customizable: you can remap the controls, set the race length between 1 and 250 laps, and decide whether or not cars should bump into each other or act as "ghosts." (All the online games we found featured bumpable cars, so that's likely the best way to go.) A kind euphemism for the graphics would be "retro," but once you get past the bare-bones look, you should find a very enjoyable and accessible multiplayer racing game.

Version: Turbo Sliders 2
"Don't play it, it's addictive :P"
Pros: - highly customizable (tracks, cars, mods..)
- excellent multiplayer & lag handling (compared to MRO, for example)
- addictive as hell (I'm playing it nonstop since June 2005 :S)
- TS 2 gives now a fully featured demo with no time limit! Enjoy!Cons: - addictive as hell (I lost over three years of my life playing this..); there should be a max hours/day limit set somewhere..
Summary: I went back reading all previous reviews, and I could notice 4 stars minimum, except Kotai (author of a similar game - MRO) who voted twice 1 star. Probably he didn't even try TurboSliders.
I tried various 2D racing games, with classic to... read more >> - See 1 user review Write review
