TuneUp is an iTunes plug-in for Windows users which helps you analyze, clean up, and correct track tagging SNAFUs in a fraction of the time it would take to do them manually. The interface shows up to the right of your iTunes music library with features for cleaning tags, finding album artwork, getting more artist info, and genre-related recommendations from Amazon. You can also search local concert listings on StubHub for bands in your library.

The Clean tool takes an audio fingerprint of a mislabeled song, matches it against Gracenote's Global Media Database of more than 90 million songs, and returns most likely matches which you can save to your library. It even recognizes songs from the same album so you can get both music and cover art in one pass. In our testing, it worked almost flawlessly as long as we only chose groups of 50 songs at a time, but simply selecting the entire library and trying to clean it all brought the program to a crawl. The Cover Art tool quickly offered covers for every artist it recognized, and the Now Playing section offered up music videos for the artist playing, all accessible with a click of a button.

TuneUp Companion isn't perfect, but it's a good start. As a beta release, there are still bugs to be ironed out, and a Mac client is due soon. The trial version offers 500 "cleans" and 50 cover art "finds"--not nearly enough for most libraries. An unlimited version of TuneUp Companion costs $19.95 for a one-time charge or you can get an annual subscription for $11.95.

"Rename this app to CrashUp and it's accurate"

January 18, 2013  |  By BunchOZ

 |  Version: TuneUp 2.2.5

Pros

Payed money (Lifetime) now I get a lifetime of horrible application crashes. That's better than dealing with CS for this mob.

Cons

The program loads up and syncs with iTunes. Then it crashes, every single time, without fail.

Summary

Using to dedupe my library is impossible. Using it is impossible. Retarded children should not develop applications.

"Hard to rate as I could not connect it to its server"

April 01, 2012  |  By rogermanawatu

 |  Version: TuneUp 2.2.5

Pros

well it has a nice cartoon picture. Uhm it is persistent in trying to connect. Offers a useful service

Cons

Hard to rate as I could not ever get it to connect, and it has no handles to help in this area. I needed to know what server it was connecting to. probably our proxy server and filter blocked it. this lead to the suspicion that it was strangling iTunes, as it was no longer able to easily download my podcasts-they would always hang. So it is uninstalled and iTunes is working well

Summary

Wish you luck tuneup. Potentially a good program.

"I couldn't even use the demo!"

March 29, 2012  |  By Benzart151

 |  Version: TuneUp 2.2.5

Pros

As far as I'm concerned this product doesn't have any pros!

Cons

I tried the demo to see if it would do what it promised and not only did it not do what it was supposed to do it made my computer extremely unstable and I had to uninstall it immediately. The uninstaller left allot of items in the registry that had to be cleaned as well. If the demo doesn't work I wouldn't even think of buying the product!

"Rip off and poor implementation."

March 14, 2012  |  By Rincon805

 |  Version: TuneUp 2.2.5

Pros

None. You're better off managing your music manually.

Cons

Not only does TuneUp incorrectly tag all your music, it renews your subscription automatically, so unless you're watching they charge your credit card again. Seriously. Almost all the songs it tagged were incorrect. What a pain.

Summary

Never trust a website that doesn't list a contact phone number on their website.

"FRAUDULENT PRACTICES"

March 03, 2012  |  By knee325

 |  Version: TuneUp 2.2.5

Pros

great and duping their costumers into purchasing a product it doesn't intend to allow them to fully use

Cons

expects costumers to pay ridiculous additional costs for products they already previously purchased because of updates

Summary

This program had potential until it began trying to rook it's costumers out of more money. I purchased this product in November of 2010, the Gold Member package which promised a lifetime subscription to ALL of their services. Unfortunately in April of 2011 they released a bogus statement about cost changes in which they explained the cost increases to their packages while brushing over the bigger issue of why they were now requiring PREVIOUS costumers who ALREADY BOUGHT THE SERVICE to repurchase the deduper (copy deleting) service after 25 free tracks. It's RIDICULOUS to expect their previous costumers to pay THE SAME COST of the original LIFETIME BUNDLE PACKAGE once AGAIN for this one feature of the program that WE SHOULD ALREADY HAVE ACCESS TOO! Again, the program had potential to be a great one. But the TERRIBLE costumer service and the disgraceful practices of this company make it NOT WORTH your time or money. Trust me. If they did it once they'll do it again.

"DO NOT GET THIS SERVICE! DOESN'T WORK RIGHT, NO SERVICE"

February 15, 2012  |  By Tripp03

 |  Version: TuneUp 2.2.5

Pros

Great If you like error messages and your money stolen

Cons

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, CHARGES CUSTOMERS FOR A LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP ONLY TO CHARGE LATER FOR AN "UPGRADE" FOR THE DEDUPER SERVICE. BOTTOM LINE... DON'T SUPPORT THESE THIEVS!

Summary

WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS. REALLY HOPE THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST TUNEUP!

"Love my new library"

February 01, 2012  |  By nmdallas86

 |  Version: TuneUp 2.2.5

Pros

Read the description, this app does everything it claims to do...as they say, "automagically".

Cons

costs $40 smackers, which to me is a lot to throw down for an app

Summary

My iTunes library had gotten to a point where I was hardly even using it. I've been adding songs to my library for 6 years. Several of those years were during the peak "song sharing" days. Which meant my tracks were a hodge podge of unlabeled and mis-labeled songs. This was fine back in the day of using your library to "burn" CD's. Now that I am solely listening to music on my iPod (be it through headphones, or aux chord in my car) I was left with a library that was completely unkept and useless. I couldn't just shuffle through songs because it was impossible to find the songs that I once loved since they weren't labeled. TuneUp labeled all my music so now I can search for what I am after and find it without having to sift though thousands of songs labeled Track 1rs543sesr or whatever random title they had acquired. I don't know any coding tricks, and I definitely didn't have the time to label by hand so TuneUp was a God send.

"One of a kind"

February 01, 2012  |  By DCpolitico

 |  Version: TuneUp 2.2.5

Pros

No other program like it.
It completely makes over your iTunes Library.
Adds cover art
De-duplicates
Labels tracks.

Cons

It will crash if you dump a large library in all at once. You are better off segmenting to avoid having to force quit.

Summary

Cleaning your library by hand means listening to each song, figuring out the name, looking up the artist, then typing in all the information. If you have more than say 20 songs that need to be properly labeled that will take you hours. Not to mention I don't even know how you would begin to add cover art. If you aren't a coding wizard and can figure out a solution to do this on your own, TuneUp is the option for you. It may have it's flaws but it beats taking hours of time to do this by hand.
