The word utility is far too utilitarian for TuneUp Utilities 2006. The program provides the basic Windows maintenance toolset, including temporary files, Registry cleaners, and start-up program controls, and these tools work more quickly and easily than most. However, it also sports great add-on tools you don't usually see in a utility program. The module-based program does more than clean, offering a variety of Internet and program-acceleration tweaks as well as Windows performance enhancers. The crash-preventing MemOptimizer, a file shredder, and a respectable uninstall utility round out this suite. You even can automate maintenance tasks with the scheduler or tweak Windows' appearance with the styler tool. The built-in RescueCenter can restore all changes completely or one by one. The only thing missing is a built-in hard drive defragger, but it seems petty to complain. The system-analyzing wizard alone, with its thorough reporting and upgrade suggestions, is worth the program price. And as an aside, we'd give this program design kudos for its stylish, logically arranged interface. TuneUp Utilities suits all users, from complete beginners who will appreciate the one-click optimization to more daring ones who will experiment with all the settings.

  "The BEST of all the registry cleaners!"

  Pros: 5 stars are not enough for TuneUp Utilities 2006. No other utility even comes close to all the features TuneUp Utilities has. The price is right and you even get a 30 day FULL function free trial to try all the features! I highly recommend you try this great software program and give it 5 stars and two thumbs way up!

  "A brilliant all rounder"

  Pros: Has an excellent range of useful tools. I will be specific as I feel they are all very different and needing of their own reviews: 'System control' & 'system optimizer' are jammed full of tweaks and options and I found it to be very useful in customizing and fixing up Windows beyond the usual options. 'Start up manager' and 'process manager' are pretty much your standard windows options simplified, made prettier and with more advice - nice touch. 'System information' is a good extension of your standard info given by the control panel. 'Styler' is a great way to change any and all of the icons throughout windows, packs available for download are very cool too. 'Disk cleaner' is excellent for removing temp files, cache, etc, and pretty much as good as most of the popular disk cleaning programs. 'Registry cleaner' & 'registry defrag' are absolutely excellent, very advanced, ability to deep scan and churn up hundreds of errors and repair them for you. 'Mem optimizer' is excellent, fast and actually does prompt improvements in the system (can get you from 7mb of free RAM to 128mb in about 30 seconds). Overall the interface is good looking and easy to use, the tools are easy to get to and work with, and version 2006 is definitely faster than version 2004 with less chance of freezing and a little less memory usage.

  Cons: The uninstall manager is completely awful and barely loadable. It is just incredibly buggy and useless. A rather sad let down to the program. Some options appear more than once throughout the utilities and this can be confusing and frustrating if like me you like things in software organized, categorized and neatly ordered.

  Pros: Excellent all-in-one optimizer tool .

  Lots of useful features (Main window) :

  -Customize & Analyze

  including : effects , snimation and font

  customization tool ; Startup manager ;

  System info ; appearance customization tool

  allowing to manage icons , visual style and...

  even boot screen !

  -Clean up & Repair

  including excellent junk files and folders

  search engine ; very efficient unnecessary reg keys

  remover (both 1-click features)

  -Optimize & Improve

  including Memory optimizer tool with

  simple monitor(not excellent , to say

  the truth) ; Registry compatting tool ;

  System optimizer with 5 features :

  1-click maintenance cleaning both disk and reg

  , automatic scheduler , internet accelerator(optimize

  Tcp parameters in registry...more than excellent !) ,

  system optimization by modifying reg values , tips and suggestions

  -Administer & Control

  including running processes manager(good but

  may be dangerous !) , regedit , uninstall manager(not the best ever)

  -File recovery & Destruction

  Great program : efficient , precise , it does what is

  intended to .

  Easy to use concerning 1-click tools , excellent tools

  for experts .

  Cons: Shredder , uninstaller and , above all , memory optimizer are not the best on the market

  "One of the best"

  Pros: Nice interface.Took me about 15 minutes to configure all the tools and settings.Found over 1000 reg errors.I did a full system clean up.I have been looking for weeks to find a good all in one tool.Now I have found it.There are too many tools within TuneUp Utilities to mention.It'll keep you busy for a while (in a good way).

  Cons: Not much really except the uninstall manager takes ages to load up and the complete clean/defrag etc, didnt speed my pc up one bit.
