"About 70/80% Accurate - But still expect to invest time"
Version: TuneUp Media 2.4.6
Pros
Nice easy interface when things work, drag your files from iTunes into tuneup and go get some coffee, when you get back MOST of your files will be grouped nicely into albums with a cover picture.
I now have my mp3 collection organised and my OCD is satisfied!
Cheap when put in the context of the cost of an album and my time, cost me the price of a few CD's.Cons
Don't think that tuneup will do all the work for you. It has taken me a week of 2 to 3 hour sessions to get to this point and I only have 350 albums.
Tuneup works great for the albums it finds, but expect a lot leg work for those it doesn't.
You can only add 1000 tracks at a time, but this is too many. If a compilation isn't recognised, each track is broken down into a track from it's actual album so you can end up with a list of albums with one track found a mile long. IF tuneup finds the orignal album you can manually drag and drop the tracks into the compilation, but this is time consuming. I have done a lot of this!
I have found no way of telling tuneup what album a group of files relates to if tuneup doesn't find the album you have imported.
The program crashed alot, but restarts and remembers what it was doing which is a plus.Summary
Tuneup has allowed me to organise my files nicely in a week or two. It would have taken a lifetime without it so was worth the money, but don't expect to hit go and have a perfect collection in minutes. (I almost expected this!)
I wouldn't like to see how it coped with 100+ GB's of music, but with my 25GB the pain was bearable.
I would like a way of importing the tracks to tuneup first, then transferring to iTunes. I am not a fan of the way iTunes works on import, I have not found a way to import to a holding folder to organise tunes before they go into your collection. A such I found myself having to trawl through all of my collection to select all the individual tracks to drag and drop into tuneup. If it imported into tuneup then transferred to iTunes this would save a massive headache. (I understand my technical limitations with iTunes may an issue here!)
I also think that the layout has flaws. Tuneup have tried to make their interface work next to iTunes and in truth, it doesn't. When a long list of individual tracks from a compilation (or worse a whole bunch of compilations) are listed to their artist albums in a long line it is a nightmare scrolling up and down to reorganise them back to the compliations. Take the whole screen, I don't need to see iTunes when i'm working in tuneup, I need to be able to see the bigger picture in tuneup.
In all I can see the benfit of tuneup and am happy with my lifetime purchase. I can see that a few commentors have not had their lifetime subscription honoured, I will make a stir if that happens to me but I have only had the program a few weeks.
If you're going to buy it, set some time aside and don't expect miracles; keep in mind this is a program and it will need some input from you, iTunes and tuneup don't lend them selves to making this easy for you.
I haven't found an alternative yet so what you gonna do?! -
"I want my $49 back."
Version: TuneUp Media 2.4.6
Pros
Absolutely none.
Cons
Starts automatically with Itunes, freezes my laptop, and when I actually opened just these two alone, and waited out the freeze, it doesn't have the capability to do enough files at once. I have 30k audio files, at least. This is supposed to be a time saver.

"Has anyone rating this actually used it???"
Version: TuneUp Media 2.4.6
Pros
When it works, it's OK, but....
Cons
When it doesn't work it screwed up almost as much of my large library as it corrected
Summary
Awful, horrible terrible experience. After spending weeks ripping my CDs into MP3s (18,000 tracks), I imported them into iTunes and then had Tune Up "clean" them. I am now spending hours and hours undoing the damage done by Tune Up with prolific mislabeling errors, missing songs and other errors introduced by TuneUp's "cleaning" process. Be afraid -- be very afraid

"Seems to Work"
Version: TuneUp Media 2.4.6
Pros
Seem to work not too bad but with some of the quirks that other reviewers have noted.
Cons
Not sure if the time saved is offset by the time to review the updated info for errors. A quick check with the BBB had indicated a high number of complaints which is not too comforting on how quickly issues identified will be resolved. Keeping fingers crossed that they will improve a potentially very powerful tool.

"More like FOUL-UP!"
Version: TuneUp Media 2.4.6
Pros
Great CONCEPT.
Cons
Aside from the CONSTANT freezing, stalling, and otherwise headache inducing user experience, the promise that Tune-Up analyzes the audio is DAMN LIE!
As a music collector and DJ I have a very large collection of MP3, which includes many remixes and alternate versions of songs. Tune-Up has managed to Foul-Up my entire collection to rename OBVIOUS remixes to be original album cuts. or entirely other artists.
How is it if this program analyzed each song would so many mistakes be made?
I cannot even begin to repair the damage done by Tune-Up Media.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I'd sue if I could! -

Cons
can't get rid of this app and it shows up in ads when I play a you tube vid for example

not worth it...will look at preference files..do a search

"Works As Suggested (But Flawed)"
Version: TuneUp Media 2.4.6
Pros
Analyzes library to determine how "clean" it is (which songs include song name, artist, album, track number, year and genre
Fixes incorrectly labelled songs and accompanying information
Downloads cover art
Finds double songs
"Tuniverse" lets you see videos, artist bios, concert tickets, etc...Cons
"Cleans" some songs incorrectly with wrong information (Name, artist, etc...)
Slightly slower than expectedSummary
I purchased the "lifetime" membership (skeptically) after reading as many reviews of this product as I could find (which were few and far between). After installing (without incident) I analyzed my iTunes library and used the program to clean it up and download missing album artwork. I also scanned and deleted duplicated songs.
Having said all that; there were flaws in the entire process. Of my 2000 songs, I would estimate that 100-150 were either completely incorrect or were partially correct. By partially correct I mean that certain details were input differently than I had hoped. As an example I'll use the song The Boys Of Summer by The Eagles. This particular song was given the correct name and artist except both under the song name category (The Boys Of Summer - The Eagles) rather than "The Boys Of Summer" under the song name category and "The Eagles" under the artist category. Under the artist category was the name of a CD which was a compilation of "classic songs" (or something along those lines) and used the compilation CD information to fill in other missing variables.
Overall, I am happy with this purchase because almost all of my songs have been organized and my library looks 100% better then it did before. I wish I didn't have to go back and overlook all the "cleaned" tracks and edit some of the information but personally I don't mind making that sacrifice.
The only other review I read on this site regarding this product stated that the lifetime membership was not honored and updates for newer versions were not given. I've only had the product for a few hours so I cannot comment on that but I do intent to revisit that aspect of my review when the time comes. -
"Deceptive Business Practices - Watch Out!"
Version: TuneUp Media 2.4.6
Pros
Large library of artwork
Cons
TuneUp has ripped off a large number of customers by selling lifetime subscriptions at a premium price, and then not supporting those customers with newer versions as implied in their initial sale. This is dishonest at a minimum, and fraudulent possibly. I won't purchase another product from this company until they make it right with the early customers who supported them when they were a startup. AVOID!
