    "Don't spend your money here"

    October 3, 2011  |   By LarsPeter

    Version: TuneUp Companion 1.8.1

    Pros

    Theoretically a good idea.

    Cons

The servers att usually overloaded, software hangs all the time and the data you get is not always correct or consistent. When the servers work data usually are OK for pop, but useless for classical music.

    Summary

Tuneup badly needs to improve their servers and also make a consistence check of their data. Save you money to some better service.

"Bad cnet - old version rating beside current post"

    September 12, 2011  |   By podrift

    Version: TuneUp Companion 1.8.1

    Pros

    not one thing

    Cons

Consistently provides "missing info" by total mislabeling files. Identified song files as lectures, etc.. Shows duplicates that don't exist. Slow as molasses, taking forever to gather worthless information leaving you totally frustrated.

    Summary

I purchased this based on cnet editors review. I am shocked at what I got as a result. I'll never purchase based on that criterium again. This program is a lie. It does not begin to do anything that you are paying for.
Don't buy it. Don't even try it unless you enjoy exercises in futility.

"Greedy developers. Almost Malware at times!"

    April 28, 2011  |   By ryensen

    Version: TuneUp Companion 1.8.1

    Pros

    cover art when it works

    Cons

the licensing is outrageously limited to one machine, the upgrade blocked me, as a licensed user from functions that were available to me before. After many support letters back and forth I am told "We are working on it"

    Summary

I really feel ripped off! I bought the software several years back, then was informed that it only works on one machine and they want you to pay for each of your machines! Then upgrades blow up previously working software with no remedy to resort to an earlier version that worked, because of their paranoid upgrade engine! The idea of the software is a good one, when the software works it is okay. When it does this kind of upgrade bait and switch it makes you hate the developers and their greedy schemes.

    "Very disappointing & frustrating."

    January 28, 2011  |   By dezitall1959

    Version: TuneUp Companion 1.8.1

    Pros

When it works.... it's great. When it works.

    Cons

It will ruin your library, gets wrong art work, wrong title/artist/album info. Especially genre. You better know how to read Chinese, Japanese or Korean because some of your data will be converted.
You can only transfer/install a purchase once.

    Summary

I'm embarrassed to have wasted money on it.
Gets the wrong album cover 50% of the time. Gets the wrong data 40% of the time. The wrong language about 10% of the time (Japanese?).
It's constantly crashing, have to force quit it. It's a tremendous processor hog. Uses up about 20% of the processor just sitting there.
You can only transfer a purchase one time. If you change your computers often, you have to buy more licenses. Booooo.

Well with the release of the version 2 of the software comes another surprise.

They are thieves and liars as well.

If you purchased their Gold Lifetime membership with the promise of FREE upgrades for life then you are in for a shocker..... The newest feature, DeDuper, costs extra!!! Adding insult to injury, DeDuper does not work very well. It removed about 1,900 duplicates leaving over 3,400 un-touched.

TuneUp continues to mess up the cover art ( I got someone family pictures for crying out loud!!!), foreign language title/artist/album is still a problem.

Gabe Adiv, CEO of TuneUp Media tries to calm things as the complaints pour in:
    http://support.tuneupmedia.com/entries/20049278-a-note-about-deduper-new-pricing-from-tuneup-ceo-gabe-adiv

    Also on their site:
    http://support.tuneupmedia.com/entries/20046951-ridiculous-add-on-charge-to-use-dedueper

Don't invest in a company that is run by liars, cheats and thieves. A promise or a contract means nothing to these people!!
