TuneUp is an iTunes plug-in for Windows users which helps you analyze, clean up, and correct track tagging SNAFUs in a fraction of the time it would take to do them manually. The interface shows up to the right of your iTunes music library with features for cleaning tags, finding album artwork, getting more artist info, and genre-related recommendations from Amazon. You can also search local concert listings on StubHub for bands in your library.
The Clean tool takes an audio fingerprint of a mislabeled song, matches it against Gracenote's Global Media Database of more than 90 million songs, and returns most likely matches which you can save to your library. It even recognizes songs from the same album so you can get both music and cover art in one pass. In our testing, it worked almost flawlessly as long as we only chose groups of 50 songs at a time, but simply selecting the entire library and trying to clean it all brought the program to a crawl. The Cover Art tool quickly offered covers for every artist it recognized, and the Now Playing section offered up music videos for the artist playing, all accessible with a click of a button.
TuneUp Companion isn't perfect, but it's a good start. As a beta release, there are still bugs to be ironed out, and a Mac client is due soon. The trial version offers 500 "cleans" and 50 cover art "finds"--not nearly enough for most libraries. An unlimited version of TuneUp Companion costs $19.95 for a one-time charge or you can get an annual subscription for $11.95.

Version: TuneUp Companion 1.5
"Helped me in my every day battle with iTunes."
Pros: I had about 5GB of music that had the track # in front of the song title. I just had to drag&drop into TuneUp and only seven tracks couldn't be found. The ability to rename tracks that had *Feat* in the title and the album artwork finder is nice too.
Cons: There are times it slows my system down but you would guess it would when it has to fix that much music.
There have been a few times it wasn?t able to connect to the server it may be partly due to my Wi-Fi connection.Summary: $30 is a reasonable price for to pay for everything this software fix. It would have taken me at least a day to correct all those tags. It actually makes me feel better that I have allies in my battle with iTunes.

Version: TuneUp Companion 1.5
"awesomely accurate, frustratingly buggy!"
Pros: I tried this software and was blown away by how clever it was. It' has found the songs I have trialled on all but 2 that were so obscure I couldn't even remember what they were
Cons: It's buggy, it hangs, constantly needs to be rebooted and for something I thought would take all the work out of my Itunes it's actually taken me hours and hours to do a few hundred songs so far. Could do much better
Summary: There is very little similar software on the market, therefore I think tuneup companion can afford to be so disfunctional. It really does do what it says on the tin and has found me album art and tags for almost all of my MP3s, however it hangs ever... read more >>

Version: TuneUp Companion 1.5
"Improvements are mostly useful and updated."
Pros: Faster and most stable environment, doen't crash as it previously did.
Cons: Album cover art still requiress improvement and still does not recognize when art is loaded off original material.
Summary: I would most definitely recommend this product to anyone using iTunes platform.

Version: TuneUp Companion 1.5
Pros: Stability, speed, updated user interface
Cons: Treats multi-artist compilations as singles, selects art from original release, not compilation. In "find cover art" feature, no longer allows user to clear incorrect art.
Summary: Bottom line, Tune-Up has improved this I-Tunes accessory, still needs work but is for the most part about 85% accurate, which is a pretty good average.
