With Trend Micro Internet Security 2008, you need only to provide your e-mail address to activate the full function 30-day free trial.
Once installed, the protection provided by Trend Micro is good. The two-way firewall blocks Internet threats, while scanners remove viruses, spyware, and rootkits. The interface is clean and intuitive, with configuration settings accessible for more advanced users. The suite includes additional tools to identify legitimate Wi-Fi hot spots (Wi-Fi Advisor), parental controls, Internet Web protection, home network protection, and even a system tune-up diagnostic (System Tuner).
Trend Micro provides free telephone, e-mail, and chat technical support, which is important since the online technical support information for Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 is not that good. Not only does Trend Micro lack a Getting Started PDF, but there is no manual and far too few knowledge base articles. Removal is clean: we found no traces of Trend Micro Internet Security on our system after reboot.

"Another Great Year for Trend"
Pros: With the introduction of this year's verions, Trend Micro Internet Security v17 is a big step forward. It's leaner (smaller download file size), uses less resource memory (~30% less) and installs more quickly/easier then previous versions.
Cons: Trend could beef up its tuning tools, such as registry cleaner. Although it does the job (mostly), a disk optimizer would be a nice to have.
Summary: Not that much new in terms of features, but then v2008 covered the Internet security ground so well, I don't know what more one would need.
With this year Trend now allows you to manage your three computer license yourself via an Accoun... read more >> -

"short subscritions - lousy service - resource hog"
Pros: cheaper than the superior products
Cons: Customer service rep lied about the subscription length - said it was THREE YEARS but it turns out it is only ONE LOUSY YEAR OF SUPPORT - speaking of support, it;s LOUSY and OUTSOURCED TO PHILLIPINES

"Trend is one of the best if not the best"
Pros: Catches every thing. You can program it at your taste, no warning or if you want them. Service is very good but it depend of the agent that answers you, hang up and call another one. You don't really need anything els.
Cons: Slow to scan and to boot, but better slow than to fast and mist some.
Summary: Have it since 3 years and does the job, for the one's it does not work it's because there system is F...UP in the first place. Use Tune Up Utilities 2009 paid, your system will go very fast. I have Dell server P4, XP Fam. 1 G Ram.
