Sadly enough, Tray Date's name actually sums up the extent of its capabilities. This ultrabasic program displays the current date in your system tray and nothing more. It doesn't even obtain the information from an external resource, but gathers it directly from your system. Since a quick hover over the standard time display displays the same information, there seems little point in adding unnecessary clutter to the system tray. Tray Date also lacks an uninstaller and had to be shut down from the Windows Task Manager before removing it. Although this small program is free, it isn't worth downloading or adding to your desktop.
Publisher's description
From Titlebar :Tray Date is a very small program that displays the current date in an attractive tray icon. You do not have to set the date. The program gets this information from your computer's operating system. Tray Date is a desktop enhancement and will auto start when you start windows. No Splash Screen. No advertisements. No spam from the producers. No adware.

Version: Tray Date 2
"Does not show the day of the week, just the date."
Pros: Small size, easy install.
Cons: All it shows is the date as a blue number on a white square in the system tray. I'm looking for a program to display the date, time, and possibly the day of the week, in the same font and same location as the system clock. This program just wasn't it.

Version: Tray Date 2
"does exactly what it says, for free"
Pros: This simple but effecitve tool does exactly what it says, and solves a long standing pain in my side. I can never keep the current date in my head and need to refer to it constantly... the stupid ms date stops working after a few uses...
Cons: There are no cons.
Summary: and besides, why should it be such a tall order to show the darn date anyway? This tool enables you to show the icon rather than double the task bar real estate just for one item. Best thing is its free and takes two seconds to install. Who cares... read more >>
