Publisher's description

From PC Tools :

ThreatFire features innovative real-time protection technology that provides powerful standalone protection or the perfect complement to traditional signature-based antivirus programs. ThreatFire's patent-pending ActiveDefense technology offers protection against both known and unknown viruses, worms, trojans, rootkits, buffer overflows, spyware, adware and other malware. It uses behavioral analysis to hunt down and paralyze threats that are too new or too clever to be recognized by traditional "signature-based" antivirus software. Powerful protection against zero-day and emerging threats.

Version: ThreatFire AntiVirus Free Edition 3

"Great supplement for your a/v,a/s apps"

    by ice_queen85 on October 29, 2007

Pros: *it warns changes made to the registry(typical behaviour of trojan, spyware and virus)...the good part is, it only warns the changes that is seen to be potentially malignant...and i've caught a rootkit or a trojan..not sure, who tries to hide itself from the task manager..processes list...(clearly my kaspersky, and on demand bit defender failed to catch)

*you don't need to update t regularly as it anal;yzes behaviour and does not depend on database signature...

Cons: *this is considerably slower than its predecessor...i preferred cyberhawk as it was known then b4 pctools bought it...it does slow your pc down up to 10-20%

*the interface takes a while to load...other than that i'd recommend it as a supplement security app...

    "Can Be Trusted Though"

by TrioBrothers on October 22, 2007

Pros: This software finds potential threats, especially those processes that can make you processor to go bonky and then, crash. Works well, manage to 'detect' several applications I used that tend to hang up the system like SQL, Excel and Java programming.

Cons: So far all threats are caused by my own errors in coding, so not sure what will really happen when a true new type of threat comes in attacking my system. Also software is not friendly with several other running processes, especially those based on programming and virtual drawing like Eclipse. Causes many program to load slowly and frequent hung up when Threat Fire runs in the background.

Noticeable slowdown of computer startup upon logging in and when you attempt to shut down, I notice a lag of about 2 to 10 seconds on my laptop and home desktop. Besides, what's with the virus included inside the package when the Symantec AntiVirus inside my laptop and AVG Free on my desktop detects nothing at all, not forgetting AVG Anti-Spyware, Ad-aware and SpyBot which I used frequently?
