"Works like a charm in OS X 10.4.3!"

November 02, 2005  |  By Mr Reynolds--2008

Summary

While it is true that I have but a humble iMac G5 17" 1.8 Gig shredder, ThermographX 1.3 works its little head off on deck and in Dock. Thanks Jeremy!

"I like it but ...."

July 15, 2004  |  By markw94404--2008

 |  Version: ThermographX 1.2.5

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
It does appear that the temperature sensors in my Mac are extremely inaccurate (as advertized :-). According to ThermographX, one CPU is running at 68 degrees Fahrenheit and the other is running at 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Since the room temperature is 81 degrees Fahrenheit, I have trouble believing either of these numbers.

So, I don't really think that monitoring the reported temperature of my system will do me any good, its a sad case of Garbage In, Garbage out.

Mark

"Welcome back Jeremy!"

Summary

I am so pleased to see the author of all those neat Classic OS Control Strip modules back in business with an OS X measuring tool. Obviously this is a tool that gives you as much or more information about your machine's temperature than you may feel you need. It is nice to have a way of keeping an eye on this vital info.
For the record, it works just fine on my new 1.5ghz 15" Powerbook.
Thanks Jeremy!

This is the best tool I've seen to track the various temp's in my computer. I have a Dual 2.0 and a Dual 1.8 G5 and it works correctly for both. Give it a try.

"Does not work on dual 2 GHz G5"

January 07, 2004  |  By matsw

 |  Version: ThermographX 1.2.2

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The only sensors that seem to work on the G5 are U3 heatsink and drivebay. The others do not vary at all, despite very variable CPU load.

"An Additional Caution"

October 09, 2003  |  By RAngol

 |  Version: ThermographX 0.8.0

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
To add to what glaptop has stated, Jeremy Kezer has been at the business of writing software guages for Macs since the early days of PowerBooks with 68k CPUs. If there's an issue of some kind, especially with the G5 models, put a load on the CPU to see what's going on via this software. You're not going to see much if any change just doing standard email-web surfing or even small renders in Photoshop with the G5. Apple's design and use of nine fans does an incredibly good job of anticipating and activating fans for CPU load. Put some stress on the CPU by rendering something in FCP or a big Photoshop file and run the software. Have tested with Albooks 12 and 17 inch (original models) and a G5 DP. Useful util. Should also (best guess) work on (gigabit ethernet) and possibly (digital audio) G4 DP machines as sensor design is similar, but have not tried these models.

"Does not work properly"

October 05, 2003  |  By VersionTrackerUserOpinion

 |  Version: ThermographX 0.6.0

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
It does not work properly on my Dual G5. It reports 95°F and 89°F constantly for the CPUs. I tested this by putting my machine in 50°F air for over 5 minutes, and there was no change in the temperature display. Obviously it does not work right.
